I can respect you not wanting to answer the question. It's all good.

SG.

It's not that I don't want to answer the question.

It really is like saying what shade is the sky. You'll get a bunch of different answers.

I've flown with guys that take 2 hours to go through every inch of the plane and the paperwork. Then the next day another guy will just make sure the wings are on and if it's clear it's broken it's broken.

I like to say I'm glad there are guys like the first guy checking the signature of the weight and balance of the log book is signed in the right ink because it keeps guys like me trying to remember which book the weight and balance is actually in to balance it all out.

I'm with you. Everyone has their own specifics they look for. And it's always ok to ask questions. And contrary to many things said here, aside from attitude, there isn't the pushback that some claim there is. At times I'm sure it may feel that way. I know you guys get beat up on a daily basis and to call at the end of the (14 hour) day with maintenance gripes and get an attitude in return probably pisses you off. It would me!

Let me change the original question. What do you know about the practice of pilots carrying a small bag of burned out light bulbs? No it can't be proven. Yes I know it happens. Just curious what your thoughts are on it.

I can honestly say no I have never seen a guy playing games not to fly. I can however say that I have flown with some real crazies who were willing to do whatever it takes to get the "mission" done.

I'm with gunfyter; where in the heck would a pilot get a bag of burnt out bulbs? That sounds like one of the general's famous tales.

Besides, many of these are running well over 10,000 hours. Older planes break more. They certainly don't need this hypothetical bulb-carrying pilot to help things along.

Hypothetical? I heard of the practice years ago. And over the years I'd talk to you guys coming through the office and throw it in the conversation. In return I'd get a smirk and admission that it occurs. In the two dozen or so times I've asked about it, it was never denied that it occurs. I never asked for names or any other specifics. I know that it happens. I suppose shouldn't expect anything but denial on these boards. I'm not accusing anyone directly, but I know you know it occurs.

Techs throwing away bulbs in the galley trash. Or even replacing a bad bulb for use at a later time. Burned out bulbs are not hard to find.

In the thousands of flights I've done here, I've never once seen willful sabotage. If you believe it's occurring, then you need to call the FBI, because that's a crime.

If you really think we're digging through the trash for discarded bulbs in order to falsely ground airplanes, then I'm speechless.

This is the biggest pile of manure that I have ever heard of. You have got to be $hitting me. You have a lot of nerve coming on a pilot board spewing that crap. I heard that management stoolies have been assigned to find pilot boards to try and spread false accusations in order to sidetrack the truth of what is really going on at the company. I know you won't admit it, but I know you know it is true.

It's not that I think it. I have been told by your peers it occurs. I agree it's a crime, but it goes back to Diesel's statement of "what you know and what you can prove are two different things". What is silly is you and I both (and likely everyone here) knows that if you look hard enough, every aircraft in the universe could be grounded for something. It's not hard to do and to resort to something like this is weak.

As far as you not witnessing it, I believe that's entirely possible. If you scroll through my past comments, you'll see it that I believe there it's a small number of your group that creates problems. Every group regardless of industry has them. I'm speechless that nobody here has ever heard of such things.
