So are you saying that you don't pay attention to union stuff?
Yes. I pay dues. and trust the union leaders to run the union, which is probably not smart, as it seems the Luthi radicals are running the asylum. I hope I am wrong about that.

So are they hiring for attrition or growth? 200 a year + for a few years?

Diesel, the only time he'll pay attention is when he discovers he is no longer a privileged class, and that his contractual concerns weren't imbedded in the new CBA, because he didn't care enough to participate.
I'm looking forward to displacements, under the new CBA, out of the G, that puts them where their seniority allows, not their privilege. Then maybe he'll do us a favor and take his arrogance where it belongs, Clay Lacy!
That will be a rather lengthy wait. They fleet he is in, as am I, is currently scheduled for final retirement in 2023 and that number has steadily risen from 2017. It's doubtful the new contract will change the aircraft retirement timeline although the way in which displacements are awarded is likely to change substantially.
What jetlag? I hardly ever leave the country anymore.
I spent most of 2014 in Europe, had a great time! 2013 was almost all in the US.

Who is the pilot Brian Gallagher?
I work for the company and tend to know when things happen. It's called communication and observation. I have nothing to do with HR. I don't know what happened to Brian (who I believe was once a temp ACP). If you're on the roster, wouldn't you know how many deferred and how many didn't? I thought was about 50/50, but that was early in the recall process. The company needs x amount of pilots per aircraft. The number of aircraft in the operation is slowly rising, so the hiring will have to be for both.
Just because I don't hate every aspect of the company I work for doesn't mean I work in HR, or in management, or etc... You can be irritated about my posts all you want, but you can't tell me my perspective is wrong.

Good enough to do it for less?
If I got paid less, I would go elsewhere. I think pay is about right, as long as COLAs continue under the new contract.

Man. G4 captains are just so few on the seniority list as a whole.
So easy to narrow this.

Then you better start supporting your union negotiators or start job hunting, because your boss wants a pay cut, not a COLA.
He thinks that is just posturing. He says in the end they won't do that.
What people like him don't understand is the company isn't budging at all on anything in the contract when it affects pay or productivity.
They want more for less because all they want is the return.
So which pay scale are you on then?
