Who knows, it could be a growing market with the way immigration policy is headed. All of a sudden you could have at least tens of thousands of immigrants (formally illegal) who would be able to go back and forth between TX and Central America.

You think they'll be cued up hoping for an upgrade or looking for the bargain basement dirt cheap ticket?

http://www.chron.com/business/article/Spirit-Airlines-to-add-10-new-nonstop-flights-at-5893355.php

Flop was sooo worried about what Southwest was doing at Hobby and Spirit turns around announces multiple international destinations right out of Intercontinental.

Yes Red, they wear big boy pants. They compete, you don't.

You may return to looking insane down by a river;) (God that was funny!)

Btw: have you seen their route map? Good luck to you all getting caught up with them. Should do more running the airline, and less running Texas airports.

Yea, I looked at the route map and it looks like it has a lot of overlap with the old Continental route map. Maybe Jeff will just pull the plug on the whole Houston operation. He doesn't seem to care about it anyway.

It looks a lot more like Spirit is beating you guys to the punch. They'll do Houston's sun tan oil flyers, we'll do most of the big oil flyers, and you guys will keep looking for your next back room deal. You'll have to. Because when the Latin and South American carriers realize your Hobby terminal violates bi-lateral agreements/treaties/free trade agreements things could get real interesting for you.

How's everything out there by the water tower? Oh, and don't you find it more than a little interesting that Spirit can amass the total route map they have in relatively short period of time they have, and you guys can't?

Spirit now will have lower fares to Central America than SWA! You gotta LUV it! United will fill their planes with connections from cities all over, but the Corndogs still have to wait. They probably took the IAH gates SWA dumped too.

Bye Bye---General Lee

Maybe Spirit doesn't have a choice but to ramp things up. SWA is investing hundreds of millions into FLL and HOU for int'l ops. If I was running Spirit I would be trying to get out in front too, cause SWA metal is going into the Caribbean market come hell or high water.

I just find it hilarious that you are worried about all things Southwest and Spirit turns around and moves right into your backyard. Karma is a bitch Flop. Enjoy that competition.

Oh, and Genny..

Watch as SW announces a new city about every month going forward.

Monday was Puerto Vallarta, earlier San Jose Costa Rica, etc. I really don't think we will be taking market share from either UAL or SAVE, but it's fun ripping on Flop's goofy arguments.

True Red, but it's tough to say your the "low cost leader" when Spirit enters any of your markets. They are the spoiler.

Not surprising, you can't remember my argument. I think it's a very GOOD thing Spirit is at IAH. I wanted SWA to come to IAH. It's a MARKET Red, the more the merrier. Competition is a GOOD thing and all will benefit. Splitting the FIS just to help one airline was a bad move.

Karma is still in play on this whole issue Red. And it might teach you guys a lesson.

Almost Genny. It's been Southwest goal to be the largest low cost carrier in the country. And with 3,500+ flights a day I'd say we have that pretty much nailed. Now just beginning to stretch the map a little.

if you truly where at DAL. you would know what the CEO of Delta is saying about Spirit .

I think the naivety shown by SWA on international flying is extraordinary. Just start doing the flying and compete. You're taking WAY too long. Stop trying to craft [be handed] some bulletproof deal you can't lose on before the door even closes.

Notice while you SWA guys post your warnings ("hell or high water"? Oooooooh, mr badass) on what you're about to do, other airlines are out in the world actually doing things. STFU and fly.

Not quite general...as a matter of fact our management calls it "market stimulation"....with no intention of direct competition with LUV or UAL...it's just another VERY basic alternative to other products....at 3500 flights a day...NK is a small rectal itch in Gary Kelly's Dockers....I'm a spirit pilot and I love my job...but the truth is the truth...your comparing Gorillas and Ants...

"If you truly were at DAL....." You're an idiot Slaquer.... People who go on Spirit only want low fares. They are closer to your passengers....and that should worry you more than me.

What? We are just completing the AirTran merger Flop, combine that with international terminals being built at both FLL and HOU, it takes time. Most of our locations don't even have customs. That's why we are using Orange County instead of LAX. The changes are coming.

The funny thing is Genny, most passengers that have tried Spirit and hated it are more inclined to take SW than any other full cost legacy. They get nickel and dimed at Spirit and get pissed. Would they be more inclined to fly Delta and pay again for bags, or try Southwest? Spirit's customer service might be a pretty good deal for SW. Nothing against the Spirit drivers out there, just the business model.

I was sitting by their gate the other day and they announced a carry-on fee of $100 at the gate. Not granted, you would be an idiot to make it that far without realizing the fee structure...but still.

Like I said earlier, there will be enough options and enough passengers to fill all three tiers. ULC, LCC, and Legacy.

You just need to stfu Red. Actually start doing the work and seeing the places and learning how to do it. Gain a little perspective and a worldview. Even you (the only guy on here I'm certain is dumber than me) will wonder what the hell took you so long. How do other airlines make it look easy.

Are you really that clueless Flop?

I love how both you and Genny like to talk all things Southwest but really have no idea of the operations. Are we late to international? Absolutely. Wanna know why? We didn't upgrade the reservation system years ago like we should have, but it sounds like you didn't know that. So in the end you look like an idiot. Like Genny trying to say we make less per trip, but the reality it was it was more! Neither of you guys are very good at knowing what's going on over here, but throw insults like you're an insider. Which couldn't be farther from the truth.

Retards debating retards (Red/Flop/Lee) on a Saturday night. Lol......

I really don't give a flying F about your airline!! I could not be happier I don't work there, it would bore the crap out of me. What's wrong with suggesting you guys go out and actually cut the gig for a few years before you tell us all how badass you are? Because from where I sit, apart from working for crap pay for 20+ years, riding out a controversial Texas airport deal (and creating another), and gaining in the aftermath of 911, you haven't done anything spectacular.

And you're on here too, you complete idiot! Still consistent though, with nothing to add. Nope.

Comming from you calling me an idiot , I will take it as a compliment . You might want do some research as to what the CEO of DAL says about Spirit .

You also might want to change your hire date when you talk about you being a Delta pilot so you will be senior to Scoot.

He actually is one so he is stuck with his hire date, you can change yours as fast as you post . With. 30k post soon on the way , that's fast .

Like others have said .You have self handed ruined this website .

Funny stuff. Yeah, you know Scoot IS a DL pilot.... And adjust my hiring date? How would you know any of that? And how would Scoot? You guys are both idiots, and no, that isn't a complement. It's the truth. But, it is humorous! You really KNOW that, on an anonymous board.... Anyone can be anything on this board, and that's the point of an "anonymous" anything. Don't get weird just because you can't debate.

If you are shocked by the naivety of SWA on Int'l flying, imagine my surprise as a former Airtran 737 CPT that flew into those markets for years. The hell or high water comment was kinda of an inside joke, that SWA makes stuff way harder than it needs to be. I understand why that is now. And is a separate thread all together. But. Despite taking 5 years to get a new reservation system and other key issues taken care of. Int'l trips are now appearing on our boards. Also like I said on Dans thread. I don't decide when or where SWA flies. Marketing and higher ups do. Those are business decisions. What is cool though, is that instead of being an ATL CPT, in the next couple of years I'll be a HOU CPT and probably fly only Int'l trips. I'm down with that.

Ok, I'm kinda curious about that. Care to explain it more? IMO it looks like it's part of the vulgar way swa does business. Things go wrong at USAir and SWA goes into PHL. Same with UAL in DEN. They pimp these Texas airport deals like an unscrupulous lawyer. All SWA does is wait for something to go wrong for some other airline's employee group, and then they move in. Is that what passes for "warrior spirit?!" And is there a a worse pilot group out there for cheerleading? Has there ever been?

I'm really ready for the lip service to end. Anybody remember Chase getting on here and announcing SWA's grand entrance into Mexico service? It included a request he had for info on how to do ETOPS across the Gulf (wtf?). That was almost a decade ago. Just stfu and get the flying done SWA. I've been going to BOG (and others) for many years and hear JetBlue and Spirit down there doing work. No mouth, no BS, no trickery, just work. They've hung out their shingle, rolled up their sleeves, and got to business. Shoot AirTran did more in 16 years than SWA will do in 50. F-ing airline can't do anything unless some other employee group is getting hosed. AND their proud of that!!
