Once again, another Southwest and JetBlue handout.

People light up the Bankruptcy laws on here, but yet turn their heads when the Government picks winners and losers in other arenas.
 
I just read that there will be guaranteed slots issued to JB and SW......it's on the internet, so it MUST be true!!

Not so good at reading legalese, but it looks to me like Jet Blue and SWA are only guaranteed the the slots that they are already leasing from American.

This is true, but the remaining slots will only be allowed to be bid by certain airlines. These only airlines undoubtedly allowed to bid will be lccs, and the only lccs interested in the dca slots will be b6 and WN. Perhaps NK might be interested in LGA, but I'm guessing the other two will pay more.
 
SWA JB and VA will always be the darlings of the industry... Don't forget that the government owes a "debt of gratitude" to SWA after all those decades of Wright Amendment punishment. Consider this deal one of those payoffs, IMHO.

If your airline is associated with "low fares" and "freedom for the masses", you will ALWAYS have the gov't on your side - No matter that the particular airline is not quite so "low fare" anymore (SWA, JB).

So simple even a caveman can understand!

JetBlue and Southwest were being leased 8 slots each in LGA by Airways. They will now have the option to purchase them. If they choose not to they will be auctioned off with the rest. These 8 slots were included in the settlement.

For those of us who have followed the usapian train wreck all these years, the end is near. For those of you who have lived that...dream? the nightmare is nearly over, one way or another.
 
That has already been addressed and confirmed false.

Which is cheaper MIA or CLT? CLT is cheapest major hub in USA

Which has more capacity to expand or maintain operations? CLT

CLT will not see any significant changes, except maybe some growth due to AA hub connects that make more geographic sense thru CLT than MIA, DFW or NYC. Which is to say all of them, nearly.
 
The USAPA merger committee remains in place and in force until the SLI with APA is complete. Once complete it will go away.

It will go away after the representation vote. Far away!:beer:

USAPA has deluded itself into thinking it is relevant or will play any part in the SLI.
 
A vote will not be required.
It will be if APA wants to avoid dealing with the Charlotte Kinder Kare. They can send out cards and force an election which will put USAPA out for good before they can do any more damage.

Why would they want to risk being put under an injunction by USAPA's trademarked antics if they don't have to?

US guys, what do you think it will mean to CLT as a hub now?

The agreement requires all existing hubs to remain hubs for 3 years.

She ruled on ripeness when she ordered the case to trial.
After the 18th all the post trial motions will be complete and she'll rule at her leisure. She's aware of the impending POR so we'll probably hear sooner than her usual M.O. of three months.

Had the brain trust that ginned up USAPA presented anything "reasonable" when they were suckling at the teat of ALPA, perhaps they could enjoy a real seat at the table during the most important merger of their sorry careers.

"Within four months of the merger's Effective Date, APA will petition the National Mediation Board (NMB) for a single-carrier declaration. JCBA negotiations are to begin as soon as practicable after the Effective Date of the merger and may be completed anytime between then and 30 days after the NMB issues its single-carrier declaration. Our attorneys have indicated they expect the NMB to rule on the single-carrier petition within a few months of its filing. Once that declaration is made, the NMB will certify the collective bargaining agent for the pilots of the new American Airlines. Absent a significant challenge, the NMB will likely designate APA, as the larger of the two unions, to serve in that capacity. (Under the NMB?s recently amended Merger Procedures, a union must have a showing of interest from 50% of the combined pilot group in order to trigger a representation dispute. APA represents about 66% of the projected 15,000 pilots, so a challenge is unlikely."

Federal law absolutely requires that USAPA plays a part in the SLI integration. APA can become the bargaining agent for other purposes, but USAPA will stick around until the SLI is complete. This much is 100% clear.

You seem so giddy to see the end of USAPA that you appear to want APA to represent you in a seniority list integration with ... APA. Ask the TWA guys how that worked out for them.
