Those extended days DO cost US something - "us" being the furloughed pilots.

IT IS UNACCEPTABLE TO PICK UP EXTENDED DAYS WHEN THERE ARE FURLOUGHED PILOTS!!!

Thanks for the brotherhood and solidarity though.

I don't extend. And you'll notice that I recommend a reduction in the total number of extended days per year that should be allowed.

And if you want to talk brotherhood and solidarity, take a look at a seniority/schedule list of who is on the 18 day schedule. THOSE are the people you should be talking to. If they started bidding off the 18 day, en masse, even at only 10% per bid period the current staffing shortage would become critical. Fast.

You said a mouthful, Sir. Based on man days, another furloughed pilot came up with 764 pilots on the 18 day equating to about 191 pilots kept on the street. This doesn't take into account the 15 day schedule, which likely has minimum impact.

According to the union, we're wrong though. The amount of pilots on the 18 day has no impact on the furlough.:puke:

Business bounced back with a vengeance.... I have no idea how much longer they can maintain the charade that we're "overstaffed" and "fat on pilots...."

Are there still guys sitting at home or waiting on training? There's the answer.

Thank you for not extending.

I am not opposed to extended days in general, nor do I care if they are limited by quarter or by year. If someone wants to work 365 days/year - go for it. BUT NOT WHEN THERE ARE PILOTS FURLOUGHED.

It doesn't matter what the contract says - it is common sense.

The staffing level is already critical.

True.

But we could easily turn it up. To eleven.

"It's one louder, isn't it?"

;)

It's a classical reference....

If pilots allow themselves to be worked to the bone then it's not a charade. Hopefully pilots are keeping their safety in mind and not flying when fatigued.
