Sad day today for many at Kalitta. Displacement / curtailment results posted today, some FE's already furloughed but now total of 35 in all from beginning of Jan '13. FO's to be furloughed is 53 staring Jan '13, many other CA's downgraded.

Although not sure if all pilots will go if the rumors are true that company has had close to 100 PIRA requests already since last month's announcement of furlough's.

Prayers and wishes to all those effected and hopefully it will be short lived or you find other avenues very soon.

Is this Kalitta Air or Kalitta Charters?

Best of luck from those of us at Atlas. Never the news you want to hear over the holidays about fellow cargo pilots. Hears hoping for some positive news in the new year for those that might be affected.

Demand for the Classics has fallen dramatically. The 400s are busy. Connie is parking most of our Classics from what I understand hence the curtailment/furloughs. Lots of Classic people displacing people on the 400. Most of our junior pilots are on the 400. There are lots of rumors that Connie is going to get serious about 777s. Who knows... We will start calling people back when we start getting new airframes.

OK, this is untrue or accurate...

7 out of 53 listed on the TBD list are getting furloughed Jan. 3, 2013.
28 total FE's as of Jan 3, 2013.

Yes some downgrades and training going on, most are displaced to the -400 as FO's, few are staying on the -200, three FE's are attempting to upgrade on the -200 to FO!!

true, some of our brothers and sisters are being furloughed. Jan 3rd only, but bad enough.
we will have some furloughs returning to their airline, others seeking other positions elsewhere, just being optimistic, I think they will miss it, and this may be avoided before we know it..!!!

Is there a standard company email format at Kalitta? Trying to touch base with an ex-squadronmate to see if he's affected by this.

I don't see a lot of the senior guy's / girls on the furlough list actually getting furloughed as we shall see a few resignations and like '08 this may be cutting too deep.

I am with you, I hope they resignations outweigh the furlough numbers enough that they descend the initial 7. ! '08 was a mess...

Yes, and many Flight Engineers. However they have not given dates to anyone that had a TBD by their name on the furlough list.

Yes they did. Union has been notified of 12 more furlough letters going out in the very near future.

The BS of it all is that they have already had to cancel a couple of flights and started begging guy's to stay out longer to cover trips due to no pilot's. They have picked up some extra flying and some more is in the pipeline. Now this lack of staff could also be due that a whole slew are in or going to training on the 400 off the classic. Resignations (AA, other jobs) are over a dozen so far for the year too.

Personally I see another '08 cluster f**K about to happen!!

No furlough notices as of today. Looks like we may have a reprieve for now. Hopefully things will continue to improve and we canavoi d additional furloughs and call back anyone left on furlough.

For FEs or FOs? I was annoyed to get an email from the union asking if I could provide them with any information about my furlough status. I get the feeling that nobody really knows whats happening.

Union...yeah, right.

After the furloughs were first announced I put in for a voluntary unpaid LOA. I couldn't even get the so-called "chief pilot" to answer my request at first. Once he did, the answer was just "no." So, instead of saving someone a job I would be forced to stay. A month later I resigned so as not to have to deal with all the low rents, drop outs, and hacks that are in management there. The union is a joke and those in charge of it are more crooked than anyone. The leaders are only in it for themselves and think being in the Teamsters is equivalent to being in the U.S. congress. They could care less about anyone but themselves, much less the pilot group. The company stole over $1000 from my last pay check, even after I gave them 30 days notice of my resignation. I could grieve it but again...the union is a joke. The entire operation is both laughable and sad and I hope the good guys and gals there get out when they can. Let the rest of the low rents keep it going.

Wow, I am glad you hold yourself on high! How much did you volunteer? not one minute would be my bet. First you blame the CP, ok fair enough he makes the call for VLOA, then you QUIT as to not deal with the low brow management, ah but then the UNION how did we wrong you? did we allow your highness to take his VLOA? no that was the CP. Stole $1000 from your last paycheck? no that was the, how did you put it? oh yea "low rent, drop outs". You could grieve it, but alas that would be to much work for an exalted one now wouldn't it! You quit, take it like a man and move on, quitter! PS I know exactly who you are, hows the show truck?

Yo Derelict, sorry to hear the news. Sounds like MEH Version 2013. UNWASHED probably doesn't know our jaded history. Call me if you wanna fly MD's again.

more like uneducated

Nope...I don't recall blaming you clowns in the union for being anything but greedy, self righteous blow hards. The company and management were the ones who did the wrong doings, as I believe I stated previously. However, taking a grievance to a union comprised of the likes of those in 1224 absolutely would be a huge waste of time. I had a minor issue 2 years ago and emailed someone who claimed to be a union leader and couldn't even get a response. I told him in person about it months later and he cared even less about it then. Sorry, after being screwed by one union and seeing yours in action it makes me glad to be gone. Enjoy!

Greed and self righteous, really come on. Just because the Union could not get done what YOU want that makes us greedy and self righteous? You are self centered and full of yourself. I have a grievance that has been on the table since before your hire date and still is unresolved, why? Deadlock at SBA that is why. The RLA has much to blame in this process, but be uneducated I would only be guessing don't you think? Sorry rhetorical question, you don't! I am glad you are glad to move on and polish your chrome, well polish what ever it is you are polishing, because you spit is caustic and not worth any glandular action your body might produce. Since you have moved on from the career field why don't you just shut down your account and your mouth then move along to the next trolling field, say trucking.

Yep, I have too much time and effort invested in this project to have some quitter undermine what we are trying to here at Kalitta. This place isn't perfect, but when this is airline number three in six years and no one else is hiring yet I have a vested interest in making it work. There are a lot of deadenders here that will undermine you at every turn, but to have person who has moved on to something he perceives as "better" then bitch about what he left is more than I can stomach.
Either you are part of the solution or part of the problem.

so long...

I believe these other gentlemen have summed it up well. I don't even have to dignify your ramblings with a response. You have proven my point for me... which is what I had hoped would happen. Good luck and as I said...enjoy!

I think you are a little right and wrong......

......... I have a grievance that has been on the table since before your hire date and still is unresolved, why? Deadlock at SBA that is why. The RLA has much to blame in this process, .......................

Put the blame where it really lies, with the IBT! They are too cheap to process grievances through arbitration.

We have our share at Atlas as well. I could not agree with you more here.

We also have the first problem. The IBT has NO balls.
