But the chance to make more money is there at mainline, especially with profits and upcoming contract talks. RJ pilots have virtually no leverage for that. Not even close, but good try.

Godspeed!

OYS

Six,

With huge profits estimated for this quarter and this year, along with a very profitable last year, and there is a very good chance we will get darn good raises in this next round of talks. Guys still left at RJ companies probably don't want to leave anyway, and no amount of common sense will make them see that.

Bye Bye--General Lee

Hopefully your "darn good raises" will bring you at least on par with Valujet.......

Godspeed!........

Well why should they leave?

Delta's regional pilots get to go outside of texas and oklahoma! That alone makes okay to work there by OYS' standard. In fact DCI pilots fly a larger route structure than SWA pilots! Cabo, toronto, vancouver, miami, the bahamas and everything in between!

A senior Delta RJ pilot can cross the entire country in one day!

So since they get to see the whole country and other countries too like Canada and Mexico along with overnights in really cool places like Los Angeles, Seattle, NYC, and Tampa why on Earth would they go work at a place like Delta where they'd be flying the 88 between Atlanta and Detroit?!

Sorry, according to OYS it is okay to make less money as long as you get to go to cooler places.

Delta gains 132 LaGuardia slots

Date: Wednesday, October 12, 2011, 11:54am EDT

Delta Air Lines and US Airways have cleared another hurdle in their plan to swap take-off and landing rights at Reagan National Airport.</SPAN></SPAN>

The DOT approved a deal that gives Atlanta-based Delta (NYSE: DAL) 132 additional slots at LaGuardia and US Airways (NYSE: LCC) 42 more slots at National, Bloomberg News reported, citing a DOT filing.

The Justice Department continues to review US Airways' gains at National on anti-competitive concerns, but has dropped its review of Delta's gains at LaGuardia, Bloomberg said.

In July, DOT said it would allow the swap subject public comment and to conditions that include the airlines giving up some slots at the two airports to competing airlines.

This week's decision is the latest chapter the airlines' two year attempt to get the swaps approved. Regulators initially insisted the airlines divest more slots to competitors, but have since noted the increased presence of low-cost carriers at the two airports.

The thing is On Your Six has the chance to make significant gains in pay during future contract negotiations, and those RJs guys can't. He knows that.

No she doesn't....DALPA will be lucky to get 5% tops......still below Valujet rates.......

The RJ guys get raises by upgrading due to Delta codeshare growth......

Godspeed!.......Buh Bye!!

Lee is right, that wasn't my point. In our case, I would rather fly my carrier's 767s someday around the World than jump ship to fly 737s around Texas, knowing our pay is about to jump up. Huge profits means gains in pay sooner.

Senior RJ pilots have watched the bottom fall out from beneath them, the 50 seaters going away for example. Those high mainline profits also mean smaller chances of future BKs, which could be the only way those senior RJ captains will ever see any increase in plane size. They are stuck, and they know it.

Godspeed!

As can a junior one. I've done JFK-MSP-GEG in one day. Regional aircraft my butt.

Maybe I don't see the big picture but neither LGA nor DCA seems like much of a prize these days.

I sure don't follow your logic there. What airline would NOT want more access to these airports if they could get it? These are the prime destinations close in to major cities, if they weren't very valuable they wouldn't have to limit the slots because the demand wouldn't be that great. When there is more demand for something than there is supply that item increases in value.

Glad to see this going through. I'm guessing you realize that if Justice Dept. tries to screw LCC on the Reagan National slots, you don't get to keep the La Guardia slots. Hopefully the politicians that are in Southwest's bribe of the month club don't get in the way.
