Has JB dropped the PIC turbine requirement?

What are we becoming?? For crying out loud, go get the proper experience before sitting in the seat next to me. Things move a lot faster with a couple turboprops/turbofans out there.

Calm down. You do realize there are guys out there that have been flying jet part 121 for 6-7 years with thousands of hours, and just never had the chance to upgrade right. Comair, and Eagle has hundreds of guys like this. Do you think they are not qualified to sit next to you?

Jetblue still has the qualification to have experience in a/c over 30,000 pounds I believe.

I just hope the cadre of new hires are not enamored with flying a big jet and lose sight of the fact they will be sitting in the right seat for many years to come!

I make this comment because I am concerned many newbies who finished IOE before June 1, 2011 are happier than a pig in sh!t to be flying a "big jet" and are no longer at Mesa will have an immature perspective concerning this election.

That is a little insulting isn't it? I mean everybody has something to bring to the table no matter regional you come from. I would think coming from somewhere where you have been beaten down over and over would want to make you really fight for a good contract.
At express jet a memo went once that pilots were not permitted to sleep in the crew room before, during, and after a trip. Will they be immature?

I would say half of my class are flying much smaller jets at jetblue then they were in their previous life. Lots of USAF, Navy, Marines, Abx, Airways, Etc.... And for the smaller side Netjets, Flops, Flex, and fortune 50 corporate. Only 1/3 my class was regional. ( it was a biiigggg class, but hired a year ago, not sure the current demographics).

The average hours in my class was likely 8000-10000.

I`m glad to hear that....And trust me, I am very happy knowing there are new guys and gals coming onto the property! I have become a little cynical from reading boards such as this one.... and should probably stop! The Captain I am flying with also reads these threads and he was the individual who asked the question concerning PIC Turbine qualifications.

There are many pilots at this company who initially believed in the Direct Relationship approach "myself included" the company professes is the only way for JB to succeed. Now... Those same pilots "myself included" have become the proponents for a Collective Bargaining Agreement. With that said, it would be my sincerest hope that anyone new coming onto property would please understand and give serious consideration to the people who have been here more than a couple of years. Not patronizing here: A 6 month new hire vote is as equal to someone who has been here for 4-6-8-10 years........ But a 6th month new hire still has probably not allowed the full scope of issues being debated to sink in!!! Just my two cents!!

SIDE BAR: Had a guy commuting home the other day from JFK to SAN...October 2010 new hire.. Super nice guy.... After introductions and welcoming him with the usual banter, he had shared his dissapointment and confusion at being awarded reserve for August. He had essentially held a line two months after IOE.... Point is: the time will come again of stagnated hiring and growth....those that are new will endure the plight of Crew Services and ZERO accountability to the butchered FSM we all have to live with. Good quality of life then will turn to endentured servitude now!!!!!!!!!!!! Bad work rules and no way to change them............

I only know of one guy (initials DH) from the OCT 2010 class that would do the JFK-SAN commute, and he was awarded a line for August. I looked at everybody else's line from that class, and each had a line except for a guy that just went to MCO, but he is dead last on the list there, so I don't think he would be surprised to be on reserve. However, I voted YES!

Been here about 6 months I was a Mesa Captain at one time and am also furloughed from NetJets. I voted yes and so did 3 for sure maybe 4 guys in my new hire class
 
Wouldn't this benefit the company and not the union? Why would "ALAP" want it?

Higher payrates for everyone at the top of the payscale, of course.

Currently $47/hr for 1st yr pay. Make it $40/hr 1st yr and then we have some moolah to distribute to the guys at the top. Isnt that the standard 'eat your young, pay your dues' type of contract?
