Hahahaha, that makes me the 3rd most senior American pilots here in EK.

From what I've read about payrise is that we've got a 3% step increase and the value of that 3% step increased by 5%! So we didn't get 8% increase but like 3.15%

Dubai has virtually no oil. Emirates is based in Dubai and has been profitable for over 20 years. Abu Dhabi has a massive amount of oil and has started the airline Etihad with funding from oil revenues. The huge profit from EK is due to many factors. Once of which is that they are in the perfect position to connect growing regions like India, Africa, and Asia with the west.

Even if you double the wage and put me in a shiny A380, I won't live anywhere near that corrupt cesspool. If Emirates ever got foreign basing ala Cathay the ex-pats would be racing to the first Western base they could hold. Sadly for Dubai after building too many sky scrapers on debt, it's most attractive asset is Emriates.

Therein lies the irony and contradiction. Until you've lived there, you don't really know and cannot speak intelligently on the subject. So quit acting as if you are.....

it's not the same family. Actually you could call them bitter rivals. Similar to the North vs South in the states. It's a shame so many americans don't even consider working for EK. There are definite downsides but all things considered it's a good time. Money is better than almost everything stateside and the chicks are unreal....

I dont hate the airline, i think they have the upper hand by getting cheap fuel and public register available.
Not Usair and never in the desert..........not enough money for me to go in the desert with those people....

A320 Captain but not for USAPA and thank God I have never been laid off...not yet I better say.....so no desert for me. I dont like their Uniforms
