Actually Gup....Airtran automatically contributes 10.5%. By doing this they contribute more than the $16500 fed limit...example...12ys cap makes 170,000/yr. 10.5% is $17850 + personal contribution of $16500. SW contract would be a $15810 company contribution + $16500 personal contribution. Now in 4 yrs an Aai pilot will make close to 200,000....at that wage the company contribution is $21000 and personal is still $16500 for a total of $37500. A SW pilot can only contribute a total of $33000. If you guys had that in your CBA you could make mucho dinero...especially the $300000/yr captains.
Spud,
Never, never go full retard!!!
I am not who you think I am. Why do you think I work for Airtran? Because of the picture of the 717? It figures that all it takes is a picture to get you to open your mouth and make a fool out of yourself.
How is that going to the mat? All of us really need to do some soul searching and keep this in perspective- I don't like guys riling people up online- but there are realities to getting bought by a democratically larger, financially superior company.
All of these arguments depend on each of our definition of "fair"- what's fair to some will be offensive to others- but there is a process that will be seen through- like it or not. Just try to hold onto something real. Like your ability to pay your mortgage. And how your treated every day at work.
Who's going to the "mat"??
Ty said: " By all means, tell me in detail why I should thank SWA for the whopping 8% raise I got. Tell me why you deserve my seat. Tell me how you are such a superior aviator, and how your screening process is so vastly superior. . . ."
Ty: every SWA pilot on the property, interviewed, got a type, had a probationary year and worked up the seniority list....if you end up anywhere OTHER than at the bottom of the SWA MSL, you will be getting something no other pilot has ever gotten...yet, that is not enough...What makes you so special? Oh, Federal Law...
Let's play a little game -
AAI guarantee is 70 hours and your 15 year Captain pay is $163/hr = $11,410 per month. To pop off a figure like $170,000 is pure speculation on your part and an over-inflation to try to make your point.
AAI $11,410 x 12 = $136,920/yr plus your 10.5% match of $14,376 = $151,296 total compensation. I'd be interested if you have a 401Ka17 excess plan like we do.
WN is 90 trips at $186/trip for a 12 year Captain = $16,740 per month.
WN $16,740 x 12 = $200.880/yr plus 9.3% match of $18681 =
$219,561 partial compensation.
For a difference of $68,265 per YEAR.
If you're curious about our profit sharing, stock options, decreased benefits employee cost that will only magnify the difference we can add them in as well.
Anything else?
Gup
Ummm, because you said as much when you created your name. Now you don't work for us? I called that right away, remember the PM you sent me?
I believe the Morris guys were pay protected from day 1. I think Swapa went to the mat.
The opener is tomorrow. All this speculation starts to get pushed aside. Fantasy versus reality will set in pretty quick. Good luck everyone we will need it. In the end everyone is employed somewhere on the list.
Keep thinking that I work for Airtran. One of you stated I did not work for Airtran but worked for SWA. I guess you never really know who you are talking to on this site. Well, except for a couple of them and we all know who they are.

Your company chose to buy the airline I fly for, and merge it with the other airline they own, the one you fly for.
Some pilots are handling it better than others.
Mama GUP,
How do you know Airtran's next contract wouldn't have mirrored yours? Do you know for certain? Again, are you sure?
An arbitrator or group of them will look at what each group brings to the table, like fleet size, aircraft type, and career expectations. But, payrates come and go. Recessions, high oil, BKs can do that to anyone's contract. A joint contract before the SLI equalizes everything. Now we see why SWAPA may not want to do that, which at the same time is mean towards your new family members. Take note Airtran pilots.

The money comes and goes but seniority is forever? How's your seniority at United working out for you?
I rest my case.
Gup
Ouch, owned yet again.
Ignore the little troll
More than 2700 views to this thread. Nope, not been ignored that much. You and the other corndogs are OWNED. And, plenty of Airtran pilots will be senior to you eventually, it is a certainty. You can't escape being owned by Ty Webb and co.

Good lord men- give it a rest. There will be plenty of AT pilots senior to plenty of SWA pilots-
It's the definition of "plenty" that will determine if that bird will fly. Better yet, in 5 years there will be so many exciting things going on here that we will all regret giving this much emotion to the issue.
Deep breath, no one is screwing anyone on either side - bc in the end we're on the same side- and have bigger concerns than this.

i hope everyone gets this. Couldn't have said it any better. Spread the luv and stop bashing on each other. There's a very bright future ahead. Let the mc's focus on their job and be positive.
