The SKYW folks can chime in, but I'd bet $5 you'll never see ASQ/BTA dispatch in SGU. Look at the struggle SKYW is having just finding people to work there now.

If SKYW wants everyone under one roof, they'll have to move. But methinks they're a-ok with the status quo as it keeps the unions out of their offices. Plus, with three different pilot groups they can whipsaw them against each other.

Ok I must have missed something Expressjet Merged with ASA right? But I thought that ASA was owned by skywest which is in UT. I thought that ASA was going to be moving to UT soon whats up?

Merged? No. They are still seperate carriers, and can therefore be whipsawed until they reach SOC. IIRC, SOC is expected late 2011/early 2012.

QOL is and always will be relative. Relative to each individual person. One person's QOL is time off, another's is compensation, and yet another's is the medical coverage. So, kind of hard to say that there is a clear cut definition of what QOL is for every person, much less say one is "clearly" better than the other.

I suppose I should have phrased it, "Who are you to tell him what he thinks is important?"

My point was that an item that gives you a high quality of life may not mean a flip to me. Something in that contract that I see as a "must-have" may not be a blip on your radar. So, to say that you can measure those items of a complete stranger and what that complete stranger deems important by studying a contract is laughable. You can estimate or guess what those items are, but you can't say you can render a conclusion without his input or knowing what he wants.

Perhaps you don't mean to be particularly hard headed...but QOL is measurable. Now you can try to turn that into a discussion of how many angels can dance on the head of a pin...but I'm not buying it because it is measurable. And the TWU contract for ExpressJet falls short in the QOL department...among several other key issues.

Ultimately I have no dog in this fight, just thought it was odd how you were claiming that you knew what provided him with a high quality of life.

Maybe it wouldn't have looked that way had you not already whipped your "contract" out to make sure it was bigger than someone else's.

Not with unions involved.... People complain about good 'ole SGU, but id say thats a huge QOL advantage for me, but others would disagree.

True, but its also more than just gorgeous SGU. It's the pay vs COLA, bonuses, vacation policies, overtime policies, and of course the general freedoms we enjoy here in the OCC that most others don't get to enjoy. Sorry, I'm not going to elaborate on what any of those are. That's privledged information.

All contract disputes and union discussions aside, I miss SGU, I never worked with better people and my QOL was exceptional. Folks complain while there but when they leave, many want to return.

If I had my "druthers" on where to live, SGU would beat out Dallas, Memphis, Chicago, San Francisco and many other Operations venues.

In SGU I had the best of both worlds, a clean, safe, scenic place to live there with Nevada and its gambling, debauchery and word-class entertainment just a few hours away on I-15. I had a choice.

That being said, If I could make more than $18/hr and there was a mass importation of Asian hookers, I might give it a second look.
