ASA JCBA: Longterm reserve pilot relief provision

I have an idea for you. Put your application in earlier at your next job and just go somewhere else. There are 50 people standing in line for every Reserve position we have. If you don't like it, quit, you can be replaced. We have all served our time on Reserve under much worse rules and even worse rules as a line holder. Suck it up!

All good points... but bottom line is a big NO to this proposal for long term reserve. No senior line holder should have to sit reserve for a month. We are not Delta flight attendants for God's sake.

I liked all your suggestions except this one. How about instead, all off days are GDOs? There's no reason for them to be able to move half your off days--they're not really off days then. If they can't run the airline without moving off days around, it's time to hire some more reserves.

Zero is better, but if they can't negotiate that then at least 150% and only X number times per month. And I forgot Expressjet only has 1 capt and 1 fo on Ready Reserve at a time except holiday's and it is 4hrs on with 4hrs pay.

Everybody including me is hoping our JCBA will be an improvement over our current contract. The expressjet guys will frigginn riot in the streets before subjecting themselves to our reserve rules.

My question, since I'VE never been through this process is how likely is it the JCBA will be a real improvement for both pilot groups? Many people seem to think we can cherry pick the best from both contracts. I wish this were realistic.

More likely to me, MGMT will try and pick the WORST of both contracts. ASA reserve rules, PBS, no duty rigs, and the lower pay rates. They will sell it as the only way to make money at our lower DCI fee structure. You watch.

I should quit my job because I agree with someones post on improving part of our contract, or bring it up to par with our new sister company? Wow, that's pretty harsh! Someone should quit because they would like to improve things! I guess by that logic, we should have all quit 3 years ago! How dare we push for better pay, QOL and work rules! After all, others did it for less all those years!

It's funny....usually I agree with your posts and find you a voice of reason, but that was simply an assinine thing to write! Quit my job because I would like to see improvements to my work rules and maybe see them brought up to par with EXJ's contract. How dare I! After all, 50 other people would love my spot.
 
So 10 years from now when you're a senior pilot, you would want to sit a month or two a year on reserve? Don't think so.

Sure, I'd do it. No problem. Let me ask you oh wise one, how does one know that after 10 years he'll be a senior pilot and not a pilot on reserve for 10 years?

Why don't you look into the real reason for that. It's not the pilot contract. It's due to the pissin match between two EX CEO's (James Ream XE, Larry Kellner CO) that caused 69 frames worth of flying to go to Chitaco. Ream tried to tell Kellner no problem I'll start Branded and Charter flying and keep the frames from you. That started the downward spiral after Oil jumped to 150 a barrel, they emptied the coffers. Then Skywest came calling on behalf of Kellner to try to bust up XE a few years ago, Pilots said no thanks.
They furloughed and took pay cuts. The cost of the pilot contract is not the reason for them losing money.
I think the MEC needs their butts kissed, you better get back to that.

Bad management. I guess we could have agreed to take an additional 25% paycut and be lowered paid than gulfstream if that is what you mean. Keep in mind that Skywest said they will save $70 million and make about $35 million on XJT.
