Why would you care.. Aren't you happy at Alaska Air??? Wasn't Alaska Air the best thing that ever happened to you? Stay over there, we don't need you here...

Thanks for the love 'bro.' Inquiring minds want to know.....Just feeding the topic. And yes ACL....The topic of a DAL merger comes up daily here.

Baja.

Bypasses

Today I got a call from a friend that is transitioning from DC-9 to MD-90. His class was told recall notices to bypassers this fall. Anyone have any other info?

Baja.

I heard we are slightly understaffed for the summer schedule so line values will go up with overtime green slips available in many categories.

If things continue to progress there is likely to be some hiring late in 2010 or early 2011 in order to properly staff ourselves for the summer of 2011.

There will supposedly be an entitlement/vacancy bid in May with net positive, forward movement but the Cincy 767 Int'l category will likely disappear but the Seattle 767 Int'l category will open.

Yep, we will be very very short this summer. There will be a net positive on the bid as you state. Should be out around the second week of may.

Second week is in question now... Unless ALPA caves, correction WHEN ALPA caves, and lets the E period back into play the training pipeline is full. Flight training is pretty well maxed in a couple respects. I would look for the end of May.

Just checked and they are still stating next week. They talked about around 100 reinstatements which would take a ton of pressure off the pipeline.

What does that mean? A guess....100 reinstatements, these 100 pilots who were supposed to go to training can opt back into thier previous seats, thereby no long term training required?

I am about to come back from short TD, and may not actually get back till the long TD clock starts.( right on the fringe timewise..I am watching the AE/APA closely.

Their positions will not be canceled. It is kind of a way around redoing the whole 365 AE. They will reinstate prior to conversion of the last AE, and the company may opt not to send them to training.

They have stated many places that there were planning on no more than 100 reinstatement.

Wong, but now you know that!

FWIW, and this is my personal assessment only:

This is a min staffing number for summer 2011. They will reevaluate the block hour plan a few more times this year and if it looks good, that number will be raised.

What are you expecting? This is not flame....I'm just curious what a poolie thinks they are entitled to....

I believe all you want is an interview but how the order or who gets the first is up to Mother D since there is no rules or a policy be it Delta or NWA pool

Fair question. I don't feel entitled to anything. DAL obviously has no obligation to offer an interview to any of us. I just want a chance to interview.

Poolies ought to be offered jobs at the combined carrier. It takes big names with a lot of integrity to stand up for them, but it should happen-

passing a major airline interview is not an accomplishment that should be thrown out with the trash bc some pencil pushing geeks in upper management pulled the trigger on a merger.

No pilot worth a nickel would argue against it.

1. You interview for a position.
2. You are hired.
3. In between that time the position is no longer available.
4. 2-3 years later you should automatically be offered the job again???

I don't think this would fly at any company. Aviation related or not, especially considering there has been a merger during that time and going forward the "needs or "requirements" might have been restructured/changed.

Now offering a re-interview...that sounds a little more reasonable and I'm sure all of us are rooting for it.

It has happened.
AWA poolies were offered jobs at USAir after 3 years if I'm not mistaken.

twobits and FBN are sure quiet since the announcement to hire in 2010. I'll bet that by 2013 when twobits claimed we would need to start hiring we will have hired close to 1000.

I thought the pool only existed for 1 year and then it was flushed.

If i'm wrong, I'll admit it. But i could have swore an old classmate of mine was in this situation- and did NOT have to interview again for a class at the new usair.

Either way, i think it's the right thing to do. How many poolies are there on both sides?

my letter from NWA showed the pool as "dissolved" and they would "give my name to Delta" who would determine, when hiring resumes, if I was competitive. no statements of preference or priority-

Delta pilots ought to stand up for you and get you a class. I have confirmed it. East side pilots honored America West poolies and made them the first class hired at USAir- they were sent east to Charlotte on the E190 and apparently were treated very well by all involved.
It was a 2&1/2 year wait in the pool and the pool was reportedly flushed. The AWA poolies did not expect the opportunity- but all sides were proud of the situation.

If someone has another side to that story- speak on it. ALPA doing the right thing- it's a good precedent.

Btw- I know noone in the NWA pool- just think we can be our own worst enemies. Again- passing a major airline interview is not an accomplishment that should be thrown out with the trash. It'sa big accomplishment that takes a lot of resources and dedication. Luck is luck whether good or bad- but I'd love to see delta do the right thing in one area- but I don't hold my breath with that group.

Waveflyer-
I hear ya, i too am in the same flushed pool as yourself and i too am keeping my fingers crossed that someone with spine will stand up for us, however i dont see that. To my knowledge when Delta merged some time back with Western I think all the western people that were in the pool were givin classes.

Sometimes it's good to be wrong. I hope we DO hire a 1000 by 2013.

Something tells me Waveflyer isn't in the old NWA pool or if he is he is no longer interested in going to Delta.

I am lucky, grateful, and quite content... But then again- none of you really know whether or not I'm some riddle rat in a beat up apt in Prescott
;-)

I wish all the best of luck and just want to advocate. It's hard to imagine USAir having a leg up on anyone- but they would in comparison to Delta if they take yet another opportunity to sell out junior pilots. I'm not sure delta knows how to do anything else. Little bitches
(so I've heard...)

The team that ends up running the hiring will want to put their own stamp on things and i think it unlikely it would include somebody else's pool......
