Just when you thought you'd heard it all...

Agent: "Sorry, we can't take you today, sir (talking to me, AA pilot, in business casual)... you need to be in uniform to ride on Delta Connection."

Granted, she was busy boarding and I suspected she was using the lack of uniform as an excuse... but c'mon, just tell me you don't have enough time.

Rant off.

this is why we (captains) need to check the gate for jumpseaters. There's a problem getting the JS on? Maybe the windscreen needs washing...

Please report this to your jumpseat chair! I remember hearing that DAL was having problems with gate agents closing the flight and leaving non-revs at the gate with open seats because the agents were so freaked out about missing scheduled push time.

A Delta gate agent did that to me the last time I tried to go to Vegas. 38 seats unassigned and they left 8 non-revs at the gate to close the door on time. This is what the new (relatively) annual fees buy you.

Gate agents should face disciplinary action (as any pilot would) for not following procedures. Jumpseating is a privilege extended by the Captain, not the gate agent. As pilots, we are way too timid about this.

Please go to your js chair about this...I've seen our gate agents in the last couple of months act like complete aholes all in the name of "the Delta way"...the only way this will be addressed is if there is enough noise made.

AA gate agent " the flight is empty but we can only take one jumpseater"

Imagine the list of stuff we could put together of AA gate agent sayings and doings and AA Captains not standing up for fellow airline employees trying to get to work or home.

Aw, poor baby! You know how many times pilots get stranded because of AA's gate agents? But wait, you're an AA pilot. HOW DARE SHE!
