Well just heard that our AE is coming out late on the 11th or early on the 12th and it was quoted as being "big." Look for 767-400s to JFK, 777s to DTW, the airbus and MD88 swap to be on it - with perhaps a few more changes to come. The AE is slated to close on or after Jan 2nd or 3rd but will be tied directly to SOC. Look for a longer conversion window than normal due to the high possibility of more tweaking to numbers of crews and possilbe base re-allignments. ALPA will cater to every request by the company so don't think any contract language we have will give you pay protection when a junior guy gets converted before you either. ALPA, what a joke...

Other good news - next years 7% increase in block hours is just the minimum. Look for a higher percentage to overall increased flying.

Hiring is more than a rumor - with the increase in block hours, changes to NWA work rules and the new FAA work rules DAL will no longer be fat on pilots, but even to short of pilots (as will a lot of other carriers). I guess now we can test TankerClown's threat that he can get an interview at DAL. (Less, let me know when you are sending in your app so I can put a big FU flag on it).

Future bookings look stronger than anticipated. As long as fuel stays put and Obama doesn't tank the economy with another fool idea - things just might start to turn for the better.

If you are due pay protection, you will get it. You just have to make sure you have nobody junior to you at a higher paying position ( those details). There will be some people not paying attention who get surprised I am sure.

so what are the new FAA work rules? i haven't heard anything.

congrats Delta guys and gals, at least you guys aren't shrinking like AA...

Apparently the ATL 767 categories will see a further shift to ATL ER as well.

Schoolhouse, ready or not, here I come!

7% sounds good to me...that should require at the least greenslip mania next summer and probably hiring.

System wide. I was told by training planning to expect to sit at home for 4-6 mos. waiting for a training date after I come off short term disability in Feb...this will most likely be the largest and busiest training cycle ever at any airline in history. As of the posting of this AE, we will no longer be fat on pilots but could very well end up being short.

Why am I not surprised by your statement. Maybe you should open a newspaper from time to time. Just know your in the minority now of those who support his economic plan.
