The only thing that really matters is, when they eventually woke up, turned around and landed, was it on a runway or a taxiway? If it was a taxiway, their mission can be considered accomplished.

Is the CVR tied to the rotating beacon on the A320? I have a friend that was working the ramp that night and said the beacon was left on long after the arrived at the gate. I wonder if they were trying to flush the CVR.

I have never seen an A320 with a rotating beacon. Anyone else on here ever seen a rotating beacon on an Airbus.

Seriously this crew was so far gone after the plane was stormed by the police the parking check was the last thing on their mind.

Semantics. You know what I meant.

This is not good for all of us, ladies and gents. Get ready for cameras in the cockpit with live feed.

After being here a few years, I can tell you that DAL pilots are not uptight. Most are very laid back and pragmatic. They do watch their game a little more when there are "outsiders" (OAL's) in the flight deck. These guys are a great group of men and women.

It is like the military. If you are an outsider, they will not let you see their true colors. It took being on the inside to realize that.

Now continue to flame away.

It’s about time the public learned how bad it has gotten in the aviation industry for the crews. This is just some of the fallout.

Pilots are stressed out more than ever, older, commuting more, holding down multiple careers just to make ends meet, flying more per month, and being paid less.

All the above makes for a lethal combination. Is anyone really surprised that pilots are making more and more mistakes such as landing on taxiways and falling asleep at the wheel?

The public’s head would spin if they knew the real numbers of pilots holding down second careers and doing multiple commutes just to go to work.

And imagine, guys still want to do transcon turns -- Yeah right!

Could someone please explain this "wind check" that seems to always get mentioned on a Delta thread?
The guys stuck at the regionals for marginal pay, crappy rules and shiny little jets that the senior folks at DAL/NWA let them have seem to think the original DAL guys ask for wind checks a lot on final approach. ;)

Simple. Every time I have a CA ask me to ask for one, it is to determine the "factor" we add to Ref speed. Once the Auto-Throttles are off we are required by Boeing to have it.

The "How Long is Final?" question is generally asked by guys in jets that have a hard time getting down. Also 210 KIAS is right above the speed at which we need to dirty up. Ergo, if it is going to be a 20 mile final there is no need to get dirty. We will keep it clean and come down slowly. Anything under seven or eight miles requires most of our jets to dirty up to make the base turn at seven or eight miles and below 4500 feet which is the altitude required by ATL Tracon.

How come no one is asking where they went to flight school? Are these guys PFTer's? Maybe this guys went through Gulfstream Academy? LOL
Where are all you that sh$t on low-time people. What's the excuse now? I bet the morons on the Airbus had like atleast 15,000 hours between the two of them. Come on guys if any regional crew would have done this or landed on a taxiway there would have been loooooooong thread about PFT and lowtime and blah blah blah. Some of you on this board are giving these guys a pass. Just think about that.

I think that, that information will be out there as well.

This flight deck probably had 15--20K hrs in it at a min.

Good information to know. That means they should be well qualified to apply for their next flying job very soon. Doubt these guys will be back at Delta after the FAA gets done with them.

Nice attitude! Honesty will save the day. I am sure they know that now.
