The current contract structure (fee for departure) is killing the profitability of the RJs.

JECKEL,

Nothing against the guys! My dog is fine, thanks.
Delta guys hate the wages you fly such a big procentage of Delta's flying for. Other majors too.

No one wants to see good jobs disappear in any industry.
You should be exited about Delta cutting RJ's too!!!

Bid is out

ATL 777 42/34 CA/FO
CVG 7er 114/107

surplus
CVG 767 111/107

This is much better than it could have been. Second AE in Q1 of 09. That means a lot of things.

Please excuse my ignorance but what does this mean? You you saying that there were 42 capt and 34 fo positions filled in this AE for the ATL777?

How does the bid process work for the surplus, does the company displace these pilots per whatever their current position bid is and create a waterfall effect down the seniority list?

I need to figure out how we go about bidding after bid period 5 hits.

Thanks,

An advanced entitlement allows people to bid to whatever is available. This bid has a certain amount of 777 Captain and FO slots, and they seem to be changing the CVG domestic category to the INTL "ER" category. The same thing is stated below it, with a displacement of the same number of CVG 757/767 Captains and FOs. (actually it looks like they are adding a few capt slots)

It is all based on seniority. When a person is displaced, he/she is allowed to bid whatever they want that they can HOLD, and bump that person if they want. I think DL is hoping all of the CVG guys just bid the ER and there isn't a lot of extra training, but some senior guy in JFK could bump the CVG guys out if they want to. That could create the waterfall affect, but the company can also cancel the bid if it is more expensive than they wanted. That hardly ever happens, but it could. There will be a bigger bid in January I have been told. This one only filled 2 of the 6 777s we have coming next year.

Bye Bye--General Lee

Who will do the domestic 757/767 flying? Can ER pilots fly domestic, or are they only allowed to fly internationally?

I seem to remember hearing that the categories were split up, which requires more pilots (reserves.) Could this be the beginning of DAL putting all 757/767 pilots into the same category (meaning less reserves required?)

Or are a proportional number of airframes being shifted to international flying?

Just curious, why doesn't DL put out an AE every month? which is what we do here at AA.

It would not be as exciting. We would not get our own Y I P P E E ! thread on Flight Info.

Er guys can fly domestic but not the other way around.

It means that the ATL crews may get SAL
