Airtran has 0 growth for the next 18-24 months, that's from BF. I guess anything is possible, but I highly doubt it.

I think that is what PCL is saying. If they get 16 717's then there will be an announcement of a sale of 16 737's that are currently on property. Even if they only get a couple million a piece for them (profit) and get incredible rates on the 717's and maybe some renegotiated rates on the current ones Airtran is ahead (management not the pilots).

I understand your point, I guess I don't see the company spending the millions necessary for all the retraining.

Actually they already are. Look at the amount of training going on for the furlough. A bunch of 73 captains going back to the 717 or to FO. And the company is probably on the hook(contract with Alteaon) for a bunch of simulator time anyway, so what is the additional cost, a bunch of retired Eastern guys in the training department? They can probably subcontract out the 737 sim because of demand but nobody is going to use the 717 sims.

Touch a nerve did he? He has a valid point given Republic's recent move. Whine all you want, Republic IS showing Mesa moves recently.

Sure has. But now RAH will do it to finish off a good airline. I believe they will be the pioneers to undercut and eventually kill an airline. That's lower than Mesa. In fact that is not the bottom of the barrel. It's under the barrel.
