With all due respect, all YOU care about is YOURSELF. "My job, my profession . . ." All things are secondary to you keeping your precious airline job. All other issues facing America are secondary.

Professions are important to the common good of the public.... ask your doctor.

I can respect that. Yet you fail to list a single specific federal policy or proposal that would further this effort, beyond pension reform, which is pointless as few airlines have pensions anymore.

"The government" will provide everything you need/want. How? I listed some possibilities on what could be done to strengthen airlines in the US; try and do the same to prove you have some inkling about business, energy, the free market and the US economy.

Air Line Pilots are responsbile for the economy? What are you doing about these things? Voting for POTUS?

While I pity pilots who lose their homes and their jobs, I can tell you that it will never happen to me.

As a kid, I used to wonder why my Grandparents disliked Jimmy Carter so much.... After watching that idiot buddy-up with every anti-U.S. dictator in the whole freaking world, I have come to better understand their concerns. This Curious-George-looking freakshow makes Carter look ultra-conservative. There is no telling the damage he would do to our economic freedoms and civil liberties.

I would much rather risk the short-term damage to my career that you all seem to be so afraid of than risk losing whatever if left I value of this country. There is more at stake than what the govt. can do to protect your career.

Personally, I would rather pay for my own healthcare than pay 86% taxes and get it for "free."

Neither my happiness nor my livelihood is determined by my job. How pathetic for those pilots who fall into that trap. I didn't think you of all people were inflicted with SJS. It's just a job.

When the airlines shrink by half and most of us are out for good, I'm gonna remember the good times and move onto something better. America still rocks and is the absolute land of opportunity. Christ, reading your dribble you'd think we were in the great depression or something. Go talk to your grandparents and find out what real poverty, suffering and despair really is.

I might also add that POTUS "O" wants to raise capital gains taxes, which will make the growth of your 401(k) slow considerably.

Your 401(k) is shielded from capital gains taxes. An increased cap gains rate will not affect tax-shielded accounts. Since most middle-class Americans own their equities through tax-shielded accounts, a cap gains rate increase will not affect them.
