Obama

Drilling in Alaska? Yeah I agree it should be done but your are talking about 600K/Barrel a day...or a drop of p-i-s-s in the ocean. The saudis increased production by 300K/Barrel a day, since may 10Th price are still risings, your talking about pissing against the wind, all you are going to get is getting wet...Try speculation and a weak green back. Obama for me.
Obama is a joke. He has no experience to speak of yet the liberal news media throws softball questions at him and avoids the real issues. He is too afraid to even go on Sean Hannity.
I agree all three leave alot to be desired but he really scares me.
If he gets elected were gonna have the gays getting more rights than everyone else not to mention his views on life issues. Granted McCain might not be the best but to me moral issues are more important if this country is gonna survive.

The simple fact is that if you only care about one issue (federal support of trade unions), the Democrats are your party and Obama is your man.

I think most pilots are smart enough to have more than one issue on their mind when they go to the ballot box though. Not saying this makes them Republican, or Communist, or Greens, or whatever.

I am saying that there's more to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness than federally supported trade unions.

I am sure many said the same of ol' Abe Lincoln... a one term US senator? A traveling lawyer? A Rail Splitter?

What else does Sean think?

Whose morality? Yours? Mine? Thiers?

There is no room for morality in survival. If you can't provide for you and your family as an Air Line pilot how can you address moral issues? Are we really going to address abortion, gay rights, gun control, etc... if we are foreclosing on our house? When you are two or three house payments behind... what are your concerns? Gays?

Are we going to worry about "morality" if we've been furloughed again only to choose between starting over at $20 hour or get retrained in a new career, which could take a couple of years of retraining and loads of debt...

Bush has been the worst POTUS for labor... McCain will be worst than Bush.

Survival?

Geeze dude, you need to relax a little bit.

This election is about many things, but if you truly believe it's a matter of life and death survival, you need to cash in your 401k, buy supplies and head for the hills.

I don't care who gets elected: other than raising taxes and increasing federal spending and debt, nothing is going to change.

To what end.... how much of a degredation are you willing to take? Will you have life, liberty and happiness if you can't afford a house, have no money for your 401k, can't afford to eat out and no prosperity.

There are too many pilots that are already living this way... and more to come...

One issue democrates and trade unionism.... that should be the first issue: which is my house, my family and my future. After those are resolved we can talk about gays, guns and abortion.

pilot comes home: Honey, great news, we won the abortion legislation. It becomes law tonight...

Wife: the bank called, we are three payments behind. They are going to foreclose!

Pilot: did you hear me!

Wife: Did you hear me?

The problem is pilots, vote issues other than their profession. They will put social issues, like gays, guns and abortion before their house payment, retirement, work rules, etc...

Ah. The only issue pilots are allowed to vote on is "their profession." As defined by you.

Neither my happiness nor my livelihood is determined by my job. How pathetic for those pilots who fall into that trap. I didn't think you of all people were inflicted with SJS. It's just a job.

When the airlines shrink by half and most of us are out for good, I'm gonna remember the good times and move onto something better. America still rocks and is the absolute land of opportunity. Christ, reading your dribble you'd think we were in the great depression or something. Go talk to your grandparents and find out what real poverty, suffering and despair really is.

Thank goodness it's one man, one vote. Pricks who run around looking down their condescending noses telling everyone else what's good for them make me sick.

Dude, what are you on a double dose of Zoloft? What rock are you living under that you think everything in our profession is so honkeydory?

John, I understand that the lines were drawn before we got there.. but let's be honest.. you're doing better because you're darn near the most senior pilot at ASA... how are the FO's doing? much less the junior CAs? The "career" that the regional airline has become is a fallacy.. what is a fact is the jobs at the "majors" are gone and those were the jobs that paid.. and now they can't even pay because of the whipsaw that's happened.

I don't hate you for your views.. I respect your right to them, and I agree (after two furloughs now) that you' ve done better than me... but are we really better of with ASA in its present form than when it was an E120 airline that George and John ran? Had Delta been forced to by 737's instead of CRJ's you could have been in even better shape.

We can't turn back the clocks Sam....In 2000, before 911, things didn't look good for the legacy carriers. The legacy costs (retirement and health care) combined with declining revenue (thanks to Carter) combined to create a perfect storm....911 was just the icing on the cake that gave the managments the ability to do what they wanted to do long before 911.

So to answer your question, yes if we had never had the camel stick his nose in the tent, we would ALL be better off....But now that he is in the tent, it's too late to go back. I made a decision based on what I thought was going to happen, not what I wanted to happen. Now I am going to defend that decision as is everyone else....

You wanted a flowthrough with Delta when you were here, and many of us didn't....We would have been the furloughed pilots for those 6 years, instead of the Delta pilots....

Raskal, btw.. you drive a diesel? So do I..

Not to go too far off thread, but my wife's driving the diesel at the moment-06 Jetta TDI. As soon as the new VW diesels come out in the fall we'll get another.

As for obama, he certainly will get my vote but honestly, I was a total Edwards supporter and still wish he was in it. Who knows, maybe a good VP?

Oh Well....

oh...and McCain sucks! almost as bad as mesa...wait, aren't they from the same state?

I certainly don't like McCain either-total froot loop. I think I will have to just go with the choice which will result in the slower march toward communism.....

-Honestly, the dude DOES look just like Curious George to boot!

-BTW-I will be clinging to my GUNS, RELIGION, and MONEY as much as I can-no matter who the next pres. is-honestly, they all scare me, just for different reasons......
