How about if Delta hires the most qualified people regardless of color?

Great post! I can't stand the fact that you have to hire someone of color that is less qualified because you might piss off someone. How many black pilots are there in general? Should they all have jobs because of color or because they are skilled experienced pilots. Why can't affirmative action work both ways? I think I want to play in the NBA now. Its crazy to imply that Delta is racist when you only have a small number of black commercial pilots. The Atlanta ramp however is a different story.

You have to be able to use your left hand to play in the NBA.......I doubt you could cut it. No Game!!

I too know a guy from Africa, he flies for JetBlue, but he is also as white (in color) as me.

Summer 07, class of 28, 10 minorities, 6 women, 2 Hispanics, one asian, and one black.The 18 whities had at least 1000 PIC turbine everyone of them, out of the 10 minorities, 5 of them had no PIC, sic turbo prop/jet. Also 2 of the minorities did not have an ATP, they figure they would get it when DAL types them....
DAL is making a huge effort to diversify their workforce. Unfortunately, once in a while they hire one who has no business being here. SIC J32, 1700TT, going to the ER, never seen an FMS, never flown a jet...... and then she wonders why is it so hard????????

Trust me. It's just as frustrating for minorities that have resumes consisting of the average qualifications watch this practice as well. We've all worked hard/ are working hard to get where we want to be and nobody likes to feel "shorted". This practice goes down in just about every field imaginable (I"m not condoning it). Intern's, legacies, someone that gave Kit Darby a couple hundred dollars, etc, etc. We can all sit around and say this is wrong but it won't do anything to help you reach your career goals. If anything it will just make you more bitter/pissed and when you are sitting in that interview room with 5 minorities of which you don't know the background of, it might end up distracting you on your big day.

Stay focused and stop worrying about the other guys/gals!

Anytime the liberals start whining about diversity, if you're a white male, you're going to be discriminated against. And it's legal. Consent decrees, affirmative action (aka racial preferences), quotas, different qualification tests, etc. And there ain't nothing you can do. IF Obama gets elected...he will be the President...not the King.

As President, he can propse all he wants, but it is ultimately up to the congress to dispose.

for an example...remember President George W. Bush's Social Security revamp plan? And that was proposed when the Republicans controlled both houses.
