Think about it. If this is an acquisition of parts, or even a merger without the 9's things could get real ugly for anyone on the bottom 20% of this list.

Remember that DL and NWA do not want to have two seperate contracts to deal with, and would rather have harmony. Two seperate contracts (what USAir has) may save them a bit of money, but it also restricts what they can do. There are two different scope clauses at Delta and NWA, with different rules (at DL we approve codeshares for example, and have a no furlough clause for TBKANE and above) Northwest guys still have that provision that states E175s will be restricted if more DC9s are parked. So, it could get messy for them if they try to go ahead without our consent or a new contract. Will a new offer be as generous? Maybe not. Will it be a BK type concessionary contract that we have to take? Nope. They don't really want another USAir debacle. Steenland wants his money, but Anderson doesn't want a debacle on his hands when it is all over. I would be shocked to see Dalpa or NWALPA accept something without No Furlough protection for everyone onboard. They, management, honestly don't want two different contracts hindering their plans. It would be messy. And, we don't have to accept any offer. Remember how the company wanted no fences---so they could move planes around to other bases etc? We at Delta have pay rates for certain planes, and any new ones would have to be negotiated. Same at NWA.

I would expect something to happen soon. Steeland needs his lotto winnings - he will sell his soul to the DEVIL to get the cash before his window closes in June. He's really motivated now.... How can you change it? We can't say "ok, take away the current no furlough clause." That would be pretty dumb. No, they would have to add an additional one to cover anyone past TBKANE. They can't force anything on us. They can not offer a new contract and keep the old ones (plural), but that would be tough on management too. They don't want another USAir. They can offer us LESS booty, but not take away what we currently have. This isn't a chap 11 hearing.

What I am stating is there is no reason go give something up to further it to the last guy brought on property. As stated last week that nugget was taken off the table.
Leaving it at TK give us status quo. They would just incorporate all of the 01 hires in to it from NWA.
