From what I've been told ASA actually already has a -900 program. In fact we had it before Skywest. Very easy to add the airplanes to our fleet, no sim, just one day of differences and mx is very similar to the -700 with only small differences (engines, additional fwd cargo door). We could bring in -900's with little effort.

Took the words right out of my mouth...N1 you might want to rethink your Skywest is out to shrink ASA theory

I think it's very easy for Delta to transfer aircraft that they own from one carrier to another. Look at the 700s ASA shed to Skywest, and the ones that Comair are still loosing to ASA. If, and I say "if" because I don't know if they own Skywests or Pinnacle's 900s, but it would be easy for them to transfer the airframe from one carrier to any other.

Here We Go!

I think I can see this one coming a mile away! Mgmt. is about to start discussing PBS with us.... In fact the FA union is all but signed on to the thing-just saw a mailer from their union that was totally "rah-rah" about the whole PBS system and how much great stuff they can get in exchange---SOLD!

As soon as we cave to a crappy PBS system, we will get new planes. No PBS, no new planes-you can bet your bottom dollar we will go for PBS.

I don't like it, don't know anyone who flies for a place with PBS who does, but it is coming....and as weak as our union is now-they would accept it for even less than a couple of new planes.

You know what, once we cave on PBS, they'll dangle new planes in front of us if we just do one more thing, and then another, and another. If ASA can continue increasing its performance, that's whats going to get ASA new flying. You can bet your boots that management is going to try and get new flying PBS or not. Our operation is already cheap. the LOA in the contract is that it will be discusses, nothing has been inked that we will have PBS.

Delta had to transfer the Comair aircraft to remain in compliance with the minimum block & flying provisions in the ASA Asset Purchase Agreement.

The 700's (and orders for 900's) transferred to SkyWest were part of a bad faith effort on the part of Jerry Atkin and SkyWest management to break the resolve of the ASA MEC during contract negotiations.

SkyWest, and its subsidiary, ASA, are the same thing in the view of Delta Air Lines. SkyWest runs their own show and does what they want to at ASA.

Delta has pulled most DCI flying down to its minimum levels and is hvaing to pull Comair down simply because that is the only option they have due to the contracts with SkyWest (Republic and others) that must be honored.

Not really. ASA's performance has to do with hitting the guarantees in the codeshare agreement that provide bonus money to SkyWest than growth. The only SkyWest growth right now is on the MidWest contract and even that growth is just a couple airframes.

Where are John and Joe? They know this stuff and should be getting the word out, as should your MEC.

Didn't say they are out to 'shrink' ASA. I said, Skywest will take any growth opportunities, etc. for their own side before it goes to ASA.....even in ATL. We have never, ever seen one thing to show otherwise. (See SLC, ATL 900's, etc)

And, even if Delta wants 50's exchanged for 900's, Skywest has contractual language in place to tranfer that flying to their side.......

They do? Really?

Um, yes....They do. Read your contract regarding transfer of assets.

No, I am talking about the ASA contract. It says that Skywest may transfer a certain amount of aircraft every 12 months without penalty. This clause enables them to 'retire and replace' ASA aircraft with Skywest aircraft.

Everybody knows that SLC and LAX were never meant to be. No maintenance support, TDYing crews out there, it was a mess. The 900s SKW has in ATL are our 900s. We had everything set in place to get it except the contract. So it went to SKW

It doesn't matter why, just that it is! Why haven't things changed if things are so rosey at ASA? Have you noticed how much flying we have been losing each month, and we are losing more for April. Wait to see how far you move back when the ATR's leave and Pinnacle replaces them.

Hehe, Pinnacle replaces them. Thats a good one. Pinnacle not replacing anything. ASA owns 80% of DCI flying out of ATL. If anybody is doing replacing it would be Skywest. Every DCI carrier has been losing flying. The reduction was announced a while ago. Anyways look like we're on different sides of the spectrum and only time will tell who's right.
