ASA slowing down?

....my crystal ball is starting to flash DANGER....$103 a barrel oil and an economy that is falling fast....things aren't looking good....The music is about to stop again and everyone isn't going to have a seat....

-Your crystal ball is ALWAYS flashing "DANGER" "DOOM" "GLOOM" OR "END OF DAYS" you are always predicting woe and dread-regardless of the situation or the circumstances. RJDC kinda brings it out in a guy-don't it?

I was merely trying to address PBS and what a tremednous suckhole it is. Maybe not the end of the world-maybe so-at any rate, my crystal ball is still flashing "DON'T LIVE IN A TRAILER-DOWN BY THE RIVER!"

Rambling thoughts about the company and this months schedules.

The company is attempting to hire 40 a month according to recruiters, however there were less lines this month and less block to the published lines (IMHO, at least on the CRJ).

The ATRs are going away, or at least management has advised; why then is the company fat on pilots. Do you think the reason ASA is fat on pilots is due to new aircraft coming soon or just getting ready for the summer schedule?

But if the company is fat on pilots why the premium pay? Just a scheduling mistake that needed fixing?

Express Jet and Skywest have stopped hiring until May, or so I've heard, so this could be a downturn for the next couple of months for all regionals and nationals and hopefully things will pick back up with summer flying.

Could be the immediate affects of age 65 making its way to the regionals?

Things appeared to be getting better at ASA over the past year (especially since the contract was signed) but now things appear to be going in reverse. I hope things revert back in a positive direction soon. I think many pilots were excited to be at ASA with the new contract until this month, there are signs things are now going backward. I hope not.

No matter what happens, it sure beats sitting behind a desk!

Pinnacle leases their own aircraft, not Delta, so I'm sure they will not just hand them over to ASA. They also have like a 15 or 20 year contract with Delta, with options on more 900's. I doubt what you say is true.

From what I've been told ASA actually already has a -900 program. In fact we had it before Skywest. Very easy to add the airplanes to our fleet, no sim, just one day of differences and mx is very similar to the -700 with only small differences (engines, additional fwd cargo door). We could bring in -900's with little effort.

Next revision to the FA manual will have 900 info.

1. Correct, except that for April there will be more CR7 and ATR flying and slightly less on the 50.

2. I wouldn't say we are FAT. Extentions and JM on the 50 in March. SH wanted BD and BS to fly this week. BS did but BD didn't, was in recurrent. Even SH was scheduled to fly.

I wouldn'y say "backwards". It's the pains of new management in place. New people getting their feet wet. The new contract, getting a handle on it.

A contract means nothing. Just ask George and John. If things are not meeting the specifics of that contract, i.e. performance, then the contract can be voided.

Look at Pinnicale's performance for DAL. 5 airframes and their performance is terrible. In fact, in the morning meetings with DAL, ASA is currently being used as a reference on ATL performance.

Don't think that a contract with DAL is forever.

Any fleet of 5 aircraft would result in terrible performance. You need spares and the ability to re-route, as well as manage maintenance.

SkyWest is only set to grow two CRj200s for MidWest this year.

First off, who are you calling Junior? I am certain I am no "Junior", but if you want to start throwing insults, I'm certain I am game to play along. I am willing to bet I have been at all this quite a long time.

Secondly, you claimed ASA will be handed Pinnacles 900's, and I said that I doubt what you said is true. What part of that sentence stresses you out so?

Highly doubtul. Highly.

If so, they will be a two, or even three, for one swap, as in for every two ATRs that leave, one 900 might appear.

I highly doubt that there will be any stapling to the bottom of anyone's list.

Nah, it does seem that we are fat with airplanes, but not more than necessary to fill the anticipated summer schedule. I just doubt that the company would carry 'extra' pilots in anticipation of new aircraft. (If there were solid reasons to expect new aircraft, I think we would have heard about it already.)
