Almost everyone on this forum (maybe 80%) opposed the Age 60 change. This wasn't a good deal for US. This was a good deal for the 55+ dudes. Just face it. It was a windfall for you. Congratulations. You spent your whole career watching the old dudes retire from the left seat, making way for you, all the while keeping your cockholster shut.

Then, when you yourself faced retirement, you suddenly became "passionate" about age descrimination and became a beacon for change. Hypocrisy with a capital H.

Good for you. You won.

Now the majority of us get to work an extra five years, with a proportianate decrease in life expectancy, to subsidize your piss-poor retirement planning. We're sacrificing money, and LIFE, for YOU.

And especially for you UF, for a MF with so many civilian flying toys as you, I have absolutely ZERO sympathy, and exponential disdain for those like you who naively and selfishly blew your wad foolishly on materialistic posessions "for the moment," as opposed to planning on the future, IRRESPECTIVE of your company's A Plan (historically, and always, a stupid move).

Piece of Advice #1: Don't advertise that you're a proponent of the change, lest you have very lonely layovers for the next five years.

ALPA continued to say it was a safety issue after having failed to convince the FAA at the ARC hearings and having signed multiple contracts for different Canadian pilot groups to fly to age 65. So clearly that was a lie based on discrimination as a union. ALPA managed to get Transportation and Infrastructure Chairman Oberstar, whom they have given more money than any other congressman over the years, to put in protective language denying pilots Due Process or the right to go to court; the language also violated the Constitution in several other areas and ALPA President John Prater brags about it. That will come back to haunt him and ALPA. This all shows where ALPA has put their money and lost; I expect they will lose even more over the outcome of this issue too. Labor unions are supposed to help protect the people they represent; all members, not just the junior "get out of my seat crowd." We will see how profitable it is to violate the law and work at taking away peoples constitutional rights. The cost for ALPA doing business in Washington is going to go up, because they have not dealt fairly with the older pilots they were supposed to represent. ALPA is looking less credible all the time. The price may very well be punitive damages for their misdeeds.

I'm really surprised that anyone thinks I have some how come out ahead and that I am somehow gloating. The fact is that while I worked to continue to keep working, the fact is that I got nothing financially in this. I missed the cut and that's just the way it goes. I only lost everything, my job and my retirement. Yes I still have my family and fortunately my health, but that big retirement as was promised by ALPA if the age 60 rule was kept, was not there. So be it.

I have been fortunate in my life on many fronts so I just take the unlucky breaks along with the lucky breaks. All total, I have been fortunate and I do know that.

But I will say that I guess I am somewhat pleased that those on this board (you know who you are) who had no compassion and were so adamant that I any other 59-year old (even the guys with the small Regionals who never made any money to speak of and who had no retirement at all) get out of their seat just so the young crowd could get promoted, that they now got what was coming to them: 5-years of stagnation and the need to work to age 65. Yes you will...

So you see those of us who were the biggest loud mouths, pro and con, (the “get out of my seat crowd, and yes, even me) all of us lost! The only winners were the age 55 to 58-year old group who kept quiet and picked up the pieces. I am afraid that they are now eating our lunch while we fought with each other.

Oh yes, if it makes anyone feel better, I have sold my airplane (and my Honda Rune) because I could not afford that lifestyle any more. Does that really make you happy? Probably so!

I still have my life, my family, my health and my other aviation work. While I’m not in HNL sipping MiaTia’s, that’s probably better in the long run. I am certainly no less happy. In fact, I would say that my quality of life is better than ever.

I'm sure this event isn't going to have a ton of people attending. But to the few who have been working on this for over 17 years, they should be congratulated for thier tenacity and their organization. They did it right, with their continuous visits to WAshington DC, they made every representative aware of this issue.

Foir the opposition, it is hard to overcome a 17 year headstart, especially when one knows that the international community is making the change. Once that happened, you had to know....I mean, you just had to know that the change was gonna cvome to this country too. Is there anyone out there who really didn't think the age would change in the U.S. after the ICAO change took place?

While the APAAD guys took their fight to the halls of congress, the pilots against all this decided to fight it out on web boards and crew room discussions...seems congress doesn't spend too much time on FI.com. Seems nobody or very few wanted to organize to put forth any credible opposition to this rule change

A 390-0 vote in the House and Unanimous consent in the Senate says it all....the oppositioin couldn't even get one token "no" vote...not one.

Maybe that is what stings so much...

A Federal Law has been changed , no small feat, no matter how you look at it. If you can't get this resloved within yourself, you really need to go see someone...get some help....Therapy.....

And, if this age change is the absolute worst thing that has happened in your life, then you have lived a verrrry good life, because there are many out in the USA who have it much, much worse than you do.

I suspect what happened here with Undaunted is he realized that a lot of people know who he is and that he is now an examiner and it wouldn't go over to well in OKC for them to find out that he was stirring up crap on the internet with any working pilot he could incite.

Probably got read the riot act at work, went home, got lit up on some cheap wine and confessed his sins of FI, trying to make up some of the ill-will he had engendered on here over the years.

The pro-change guys should try to show some class and leave it alone. You won, quit gloating and go enjoy your ill-gotten gains.

However, it is still considered a "vote". The Senate votes in this manner on many different issues...and be rest assured, it really is considered a "vote" . Also remember that in the House, even with a 390-0 vote tally, there were 45 Representatives that chose not to even vote on this issue.

Somehow, I'm left with the impression that there are many pilots who aren't all that familiar with Parlimentary Procedure as it applies in the way our elected Representatives conduct votes on the floor of the House and the Senate. And I'm sure many took Civics/Government classes in High School
