Every last pilot on this board is in the same fight, I'm at FLOPS and I'm still glad I voted for the 1108. My company is the poster child for mean,micro-managing bunch of kids running this company. The fight is getting harder, the stress is up there, but rules have been put in place and the benefits are slowly showing. Send in the card

Not really true but just because we vote in the union how do we know we will have the same representation that NetJet's gets? It will be like the Majors vs the Regionals. Flex will be a second class citizen and the 1108 will be busier taking care of NetJets then us. Seen it happen who to often.

NJ 1108 was there to help us all along the way. So really there is no other union out there to vote for.

And "You've seen it way to often", you havent seen a dam thing, were not a regional, so over here at the fractionals you haven't seen a dam thing.

I used to share your contempt for unions. Then FlOps hired Sheeringa. His disdain for and persecution of pilots is well documented on this forum. Not to mention he's a completely inept CEO.

Perhaps your management does and will continue to value the pilot ranks at Flex (I doubt it). What has happened to us at FlOps can and probably will happen to you. It's just a matter of time. And when that time comes you will have no voice without a union.

NJ pays 100% dues, 75% stays in house and 25% goes to the teamsters. If you go to Iraq and you need protection, bet your gonna pay for that protection. Whats the company Blackwater, or something like that. If you can't see that this is nothing more than an insurance policy, than you need to get your money back for your education. If you can't see that Unions are big business and out to make a profit, (funny our companys are big business just out to make a profit also, what a concept), again you need to get your money back.

Not sure I agree with you there Bailey. Yes, ALPA sucked for the regionals. But this is a different part of the industry and a different union.

The auto workers union comes to mind. Competing companies but a very very strong union that leaves no one company behind.

An Even Stronger Bargaining Position for Flex

When Flex (or CS, or whoever is the next frac to get on board with 1108) begins the process of negotiating toward their first CBA, they will have at their disposal what is an extremely strong local, one that it gaining strength daily. The groundwork laid by NJA in creating a Strong Union / 1108 and the experience gained in their CBA negotiating / ratification process is of course invaluable. But the Flight Options CBA will be the first fractional contract that is negotiated from the ground floor. This experience when added to that which already exists in 1108 will be of untold value for the next group of pilots who choose to organize. One key benefit for the next group will likely be a reduced time period from the day of organization to contract ratification. No guarantees, but certainly something to consider.

This will not happen at flex. The closest we ever got was last time the contract went through and we barely had half the group sign up then. Every time someone gets a raise, everyone says join the union; then it will die out in a few months again. I truly believe Flexjet will come through on this one. We got a raise last time, granted it wasn't a matching raise but, seeing that we just had our best year, it could get interesting.

I think Flex will come through for us this time and match the pay at least since we are desperate for new hires also.

I just despise the comment our chief pilot says about us being happy until someone else gets a raise. Well, step up and be proactive on our compensation then. It's called learned behavior. YOU gave us a raise after the last Netjet contract; therefore, what are we supposed to say when it happens again???

that is what I always did when I worked for crappy regionals, by the way they had union representation and they where some of the worst jobs I have ever had....everybody always bitching, complaining, etc. about how bad things are...gets old after a while

Quality of life issues, scheduling, and compensation. With all of the items on the table at NJ, Flex will need to do a little more than throw money at us. Dont get me wrong, I like working at Flex and have no intent to go anywhere else. I do think however, that we need to unify as a pilot group and focus our collective will toward the betterment of our work environment. With that said, it would be nice if this could be done without the implementation of a union. Things are going to get interesting for certain.

You should probably thank the unionized pilots at NetJets and 1108 who worked to up their own wages and ended up getting you a raise through no effort of your own, even if it wasn't up to the NJA level.

Doyle - this isn't a slam on you but rather it's pointed at the people who criticize having a union.
