Really thought it would pass, can't believe the pilots would think that voting for Alpa is the wrong way to go.

ALPA, although they suck in so many ways is better then nothing. The thought of some changes gave allot of us hope in some improvements long overdue.

I guess we will all see if the Colgan's looking at at 50% unsatisfactory rate will come up with something for the pilots who backed them...work rules and some industry standard rates on the q400 would be nice.

the ball is back in there court for the next year if the screw it up, next years vote is just 12 months away and I'm sure that people will be less sympathetic if they don't play nice in the sandbox.

disappointed but hopeful

For all of those who voted yes...HA HA. for those who voted no or didn't vote at all, Congrats. ALPA is the devil and you will be better off without them.

I used to fly for Colgan and I can tell you exactly why it failed

Because you have many senior guys who kiss management's as* and scheduling's as* and demand to be treated like God's gift to aviation (you know some of the people I'm talking about) . . . and they know very well that not everything runs on a perfectly honest seniority basis. If a union comes in that will give more rights to your most junior people, all "favors" given to more senior guys would dissappear. They've got their nitche: they build lines for the guys for crying out loud! The senior capt's want to take advantage of a company that barely honors seniority system so they can get what they want and a union would threaten that.

he replied "we are all at this airline to just get our 1000 pic and get out of here, why should we vote a union in that is going to take 2% of our pay"

More shortsighted words have never been spoken.

Newsflash: By accepting crap pay and work rules at Colgan, you are lowering your career earnings no mater where you go next. That is, if you are able to go on to another carrier.
