Today there were 7 A-330 PHL; 9 B-767 PHL, 5 International and 4 Domestic and 1 B-737 in the June 18 recall class. I think I heard 1 person did not show but I'm not sure. I was busy preparing for an SPV tomorrow.

This was the first class on the 07-04 bid.

Before my furlough(3/02), there was a retirement calculator someone had on a personal website, You plugged in your DOH, DOB and it gave your seniority each year until retirement. Does this site still exist?? and with new data from the merger?? Woulda finished w/ a single digit #(no joke), just for entertainment would love to see the numbers now.

The last time I used that calculator US furloughed almost 2,000 and entered BK.

Don't think the calculator has been updated, but an individual on the AAA site, did create a spreadsheet that would show you the same info, plus some more, with the combined list. give me a range of class dates, or something and I can tell ya...

For those of you following recalls going back to UsAirways. The June 18 recall class had a total of 20. Just heard that the aircraft breakdown for the next class (June 25) is 4 737's, 3 AB320's, 7 757's, not sure if the 757's are domestic or international.

Hey, i'm with you. My decision making skills stink.

If I had returned from furlough at at AirTran in January 99 instead of going to USAir, I can't imagine how senior I would be right now.

Believe me. If it wasn't for the cake schedule I have here, this decision would be much tougher. But I really enjoy watching my baby-boy grow up. 4 days on (probably 5 with a commute) 3 days off is a whole lot of time away from home. At least here i'll be home for birthdays, Christmas, baseball games, etc...

That being said... I think I might <gasp> have a touch of shiny-jet-syndrome. Think the doc can give me some penicillin or something for that?

Based on the replies on this web and perhaps the family history with U, it sounds like you may be having second thoughts.

My only advise is follow your heart. Going to work each day happy is worth its weight in gold (Don't tell Parker I said that).

That said, the new US Airways could be a very interesting place to work. There is some new metal and replacement metal on its way. There have been some teasers about new international destinations, and the age 60 issue is still in limbo (for how long?). There is also talk about new hires.

Toss the coin, and I'll join you in PHL or CLT .

If it's Philly I dont think you'll see me there. Being based there is pretty much a non-starter for me. Flying into Philly can be frustrating. Commuting to Philly sounds like a formula for a heart-attack.

I dont want to drag this thread on indefinitely, but I would like to see it remain active as people start to get the "take it or leave it" letter. Discussing how others made their decisions will likely help me make mine when the time comes.

I think i'll miss the bullet on this bid... but I can't imagine I have too many more months to decide.

How does a Jan 99 guy look on that retirement spreadsheet anyway?

I think I was seated in the row behind you on the 18th of Jan. What was a single digit for me is now just under 300 at age 60. Something kinda hard to let fall by the wayside!!!
My question is how much of a "Geographical Fence" do we have helping out the east side....meaning...if you live in the West how many will make there way to CLT, PHL(ugh!!!!) over the years???

Yep FA is definitely fighting the SJS on this one, I can tell.

BTW FA, I got your penicillan: Next 4 day I do I'll call you at the start and end of each leg, at wake up and bed times too. Then you just eat McDonalds, Pizza Hut, and Vending Machine grub for 4 days; maybe sleep on the couch one night, the guest room the next, and on the floor night 3 to simulate a Mexico overnight (yes they have beds but they like 'em firm).

If you have much fun and want to do it again the following week then you accept recall. Simple.

If they can hold Captain in the east before a west base you can bet there will be plenty of movement.

A lot of guys from PSA sold their houses and moved to the east coast after USAir bought PSA. Granted USAir systematically destroyed the PSA routes and bases, but a lot of that movement would probably have happened anyway.

A lot of the senior AWA guys will bid and fly international just as soon as they can.

If you think there is a geographical fence that is going to prevent a pilot's natural desire for bigger, faster, higher paying equipment you are going to be in for a big surprise.
