It comes down to the fact that if anything would ever happen with you in the flight deck, they could go back to the psyche eval as a legal disclaimer. It basically removes Delta from liability if you go nuts while at work.
 
I'm really hoping for an interview call sooner or later this year...

Any idea how much the interview might change? Any chance they are going to get rid of the ridiculous battery of tests?

Also, what happened to rumor control on the 78's? Seems like everyone from American to SWA is the likely heir of the 100 anonymous orders and options out there.

Out of morbid curiosity as well, was the 76 newhire slot ATL or NY?

I see the point. However, what happens to say someone at Continental or Southwest who goes nuts? Would the airline not be responsible if they had a psyche eval?
 
I do not know I am not there and have not had their processes and reasoning explained to me.

The 767 slots were out of ATL.

I would not be surprised if you see a big order for multiple types from DAL and AMR at the Paris Air show.
Here at DAL they are discussing the 787 as a reality and are looking at training options. That said if AMR and DAL place two very large orders I am willing to bet that they will have production slots on the soon to be announced second production line.
 
2 newhires today got their initial assignment as ATL 767 FO's.

So, the top 5 got the 2 767 slots and the 3 737 slots, or did some senior guys get the MD88 in NYC? Will most classes have that type of set up, a few 737s or 767s and the rest MD88? Or, will a full class get the 738? Interesting.

The next question is did the a/c assignments go based off of the last four of the social or did they look at previous experience and type ratings?

I have heard it is based off of your last 4 digits of your soc sec #. As far as previous experience goes, that doesn't matter. You either pass the checkride or you don't.

They assign the class the aircraft and then let them bid for the slots on class seniority.
 
For those of you with upcoming interviews word on the street is the process is getting some changes effective after today. Also, Jon Swift is stepping down to fly the 777. Not sure who will be taking the reigns of pilot selection/interviews now.

I would expect any changes to move the interview more towards a targeted selection process. I would be ready to answer lots of TMAAT questions and get very comfortable talking about yourself. Know your strengths and weaknesses, your failures and successes, you leadership and management styles, and your decision making and conflict resolution processes. Have a personal story that shows how YOU deal with each of those situations. I think if you are ready to do that AND ready for the old gouge then you should do fine no matter what they throw your way. I think they could do away with the psych eval, medical, and cognitive skills tests. This would cut the process to one day, save them money, and still allow them to find great candidates.
