I'll be the first to agree that ASA sucks, but if you think ExpressJet has such a better product than any other regional out there you're kidding yourself.

ASA is the best regional out there............... except for all the others

This trend will continue for ASA. It is not a pilot issue. It is a business issue. It is a shot across ASA's management's bow. Clean it up or we will put you out of business. Guess what DAL means it. More ATL flying will be next. Everyone else seems to run a better ship than this place. It is not the flight operations at any Regional. It has to do with ramp operations, mtc, and how our ops centers schedule and route aircraft. ASA does not do this efficiently. 40 minute turns with aircraft and concourse changes looks great on paper but the real world is quite harsh.
DAL has said it loud. We as regional will be held accountable for service. IE clean it up or you will loose your contract. It is about money, but that has been played to about the end of its game and the majors know that. Now it will be about how we treat their customer. They know that the blood that they have tried to squeeze out of the regional airline industry is about dried up. Now they will shift to something else to keep us all guessing.

well im my class there was express jet, mesa, psa, pdt, pcl, mesaba. and none of them had anything good to say about their company either whats your point? they obviously left because they didnt like it. chq isnt for everyone. i however love it here.

Dude I TRIED to read your post but all I could see is that freakin hottie for your avatar. Nice work sir....and Chq is a good company (from what I hear)

Two thoughts on this subject:

1. Expressjet should be the obvious choice to everyone. It's been flying to Mexico and doing it well for a long time. I don't know what the destination cities will be, but it wouldn't surprise me if some of the cities were common to the Continental system. Thus creating a cost advantage to Expressjet over a newcomer.

2. Being a ten aircraft operation, the "most favored nation" clause in their agreement with Continental doesn't apply. So we really don't know how much "fisting" has taken place in order to get this deal done. Delta may have "fisted" Expressjet who is anxious to find a place for ten planes. Granted the employees weren't asked to take concessions to get this deal done, and that's a good thing. But that doen't mean the company didn't concede to make it happen.

The Point:
Just some things to consider before you go cheering (or criticizing) Expressjet for getting new flying without lowering the bar.

While it does suck for ASA, it also goes to prove that pilot costs are not, ultimately, the determining factor when it comes to the award of flying.

So ASA management can suck a long one when they try and tell me I need to be "cost competitive".

Good luck to XJT. I don't think too many ASA pilots are bitter and twisted about loosing the LAX flying. It was kinda expected all along.

I'm pretty sure that XJT isn't stealing anyones flying. Delta is just being Delta.

Congrats, XJTers

As a former expressjeter, Im glad that they are finding new markets. In my class now, there are CHQ, MESA, PNL, TSA, and non of them have anything to say good about their company. Express has NOT lowered anything in their contract to get the new flying. Good luck to all that are still there, and I hope you the best.

New flying? New markets? ACA tried that too.

Indy tried to go nose to nose with the big boys, with nothing to fall back on. We're experimenting with a small number of aircraft in a market we've studied for years. You people just want to see us fail. Why I have no idea... But you do!

so is expressjet gonna stop bashing the chq guess who they claimed to have taken their flying?

oh wait, ofcourse they won't. they say everyone else except themselves are bottom feeders. keep leading the regional industry boys and make us proud!

ps. i personally have no beef with expressjet.
