We had our first recall class return yesterday. Welcome back guys! One of the recalls mentioned AA had said the first few classes will be around 10 pilots, then 20 pilots, and should ramp up to 40 a month by summer.

Regards,

AAflyer

I hope the 40 a month is true!! Good news for all!

I hope the 40 a month is true!! Good news for all!

Looking4better,

We are hiring more checkairman, and sim instructors. The numbers of instructors would indicate that they will recall more than 10 a month. We can do that now with no new Checkairman.

The individual from AA who mentioned this is in Flight Admin and has been careful in the past on what is said. We is about as reliable as they come.

Regards,
AA

Looking forward to when we have "new hires" once again.

good deal....I currently work for AE, I hear from most of the furloughed pilots I know/fly with are expecting or have heard that the number is going to jump up soon....movement in a good direction for all. :-)

I hope AE doesnt start withholding the furloughed pilots.....we are super short staffed and they dont seem to be preparing very much for the loss of CA's that could be happening pretty quick.

curious, what were the slots the furloughees returned to (speculation was md80 in nyc and 737 in mia).

looks like 3 MIA/FO/737/D, 3 LGA/FO/S80/D, and 3 SLT/FO/S80/D. Of the last two left, one went on mil leave and the other went on maternity leave.

What AAflyer said is true, they are planning on ramping it up to 40/month by summer.

"Que putada!" Oh well. NY is not such a bad place to be. I am actually starting to get some recognition and respect here in the Jackson Heights 'hood from all the 'batos.

I think the 3 that went to STL will be SLT S80 CA.

Not right off the bat - they need to wait for the more senior TWA F/Os in SLT to reinstate to CA before they upgrade. Won't take long, however - big CA bid in the last vacancy message.

I'll ask it.

What about Supp CC. Will TWA pilots get their rights back for recall in STL? Are our captain slots still protected?

You bet, its our only bone we have. Ready to get my seat back in STL.
P.S. AA Flyer, The F.I.S did get a captain bid.

Just got off the phone with the Furlough Comittee chairman, as well as the manager of flt admin. Here's how it will work:

Any TWA pilot returning from furlough gets an automatic reinstatement to SLT - regardless of whether he/she had a reinstatement to SLT or not - so if they want SLT, it''ll be available as long as there are openings there (and there probably will be.)

With the exception of the F.I.S who had way more seniority than the other "recallees", TWA pilots will get recalled to the right seat, albeit the "protected" right seat. In other words, TWA pilots are protected from the minute they reinstate to SLT, and would upgrade to CA according to the rules of Supp CC - which will happen quite quickly, with the retirements coming from the TWA ranks. Probably a matter of months.

In this first class, out of the 3 TWA pilots, the one TWA F.I.S. got reinstated to CA right off the bat - the other two got SLT/FO/S80/D, but under the rules of CC.

Welcome back folks.

Care to bet how many recently recalled TWA guys go rapidly to the left seat via CC before the APA rank and file come unglued? I can hear it already - "those guys didn't have to suffer through any of the b.s. these last few years and now they get a huge windfall". This is the same CC that was a knife directly into the heart of 99% of us.

Thanks for the info AA73.

How about the folks below the staple point??? Will they still get SLT (if wanted) or get to Bid elsewhere (say LGA)???

Thanks

Pkober and 100 ci,

I think a AA73 explained it, however welcome back if you choose, I know many of you took a hard hit from Captain to the street, I hope this recall and quick upgrade ease some of the pain.

Once again, welcome ALL back, and hopefully we can start hiring again.

Cheers toa better 2007,

AAflyer

wtrav8r,

AA73 probably knows a little more info than I having just spoken to the furough chairman, however my understanding was they can go anywhere AA needs them or they can exercise their rights to SLT (AA's designation for STL) over anyone else who would like to go in a preference bid.

Regards,

AAflyer

Corrected version: Any TWA pilot protected under CC will be able to reinstate directly into SLT upon recall. When I say "protected", I mean any pilot hired at TWA on or before a date ranging from 9/28/90 (for bidding widebody) through 7/17/97 (for bidding narrowbody.) These dates represent the widebody and narrowbody fences in SLT for CA and F/O. Anyone hired at TWA after 7/17/97 does not get the automatic reinstatement to SLT, and is subject to the same rules a "Native" furloughee has - the Co sends him/her wherever they need.

PIPE - I'm not trying to stir any kind of pot with this info. Maybe you are. I'm just providing info for those coming back and/or thinking of coming back. As far as my personal opinion, we live by the agreement we signed, period. If that means that a lot of furloughed/displaced TWA S80 CAs get to reinstate to their seat, I don't see the problem. If others want to bee-itch about it, that's their own miserable choice - don't count me in.

Hey Mach8Forest, where are you? You'd have usually attempted some lame slam against me by now. I'm gettin' worried!

:p

Correct AAflyer, ANY TWA pilot - regardless of seniority - gets an automatic SLT bid upon recall. Or if they choose not to go to SLT, they go wherever the Co needs them.

I'm not trying to stir the pot either. I am two airlines removed now and happily employed. I have flown (recently) with AA guys at my present airline. During the obligitory "what's your background" discussion on leg one I got the "None of you TWA guys should even have a job" speech when I told him my background (I had voiced no opinions on the matter). I'm just saying that I think there will be a lot of dissent in the ranks on the AA side now that it's time to pay the piper a teeny tiny little bit.

Pipe,

You will always have that small percent. Just like Mach8 would probably watch me die before offering help in a car accident, some of our guys think Supp CC has caused all the wrongs in their life.

If you come back soon, glad to have you back, if you come back as a captain, cool. If I fly with you as your FO we can hopefully have a beer at the layover.

regards,

AA

Anyways back to my original point. We are going to be recalling more pilots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

Not so fast.....

Hmmm, bad time to get knocked up!

....think about. She comes back for the free dinner, goes on maternity leave. She sounds like a real pilot to me. I may have to send her a gift for the baby shower! Smart lady.
