8AF-Flying something bigger is better? LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Remember you have to pass random drug tests at AE, so lay off the pot. You have so much to learn. How would you like to earn $37,500 as an eight year first officer??????????????? But at least you are flying a jet! HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go do the math you can make more working at WALMART!

Sorry if I confused you. I was trying to say no one should consider Eagle as a career.

"No preferential treatment, but you do get ignored for free when walking by them in the terminal. It's not that they don't notice you, it's that they try so hard to act like they don't."

Actually, a snappy salute would be appropriate when in the presence of an AA pilot. Also, please move over to the edge of the hallway so as not to hinder their path. You are not worthy.

NO need to do that, a simple nod and hello will suffice, I will say it first, unless you beat me to it. However if you are one of the three eagle guys I have seen in the last month looking like a slob, using a backpack as your flight bag, while meandering down the terminal listening to your ipod I will try to pretend you don't exist.

Actually the hello goes both ways, it's seems lately you guys are just as cordial. Maybe that is just a Dallas thing.

AAflyer

P.S. To the poster asking wbout preferential to AA, no but it works like any other airline. I was AE prior, no flow through, however I did have 727 time.

P.S.S I agree with the large number hiring numbers projected at AE, it is confirmed we are hiring more checkairman, and sim instructors, you will see a large increase in recalls as te year progresses.

Ill tell you, as an Eagle pilot I have never been treated poorly by any AA guys. As a matter of fact, one of the first weekes of training in Dallas sitting at the hotel bar, me and a couple of guys from class were having a few, and started up a conversation with four AA pilots, before we knew it they took us out to dinner and then the Fantasy Ranch, and they paid for everything. I have never ever seen the hostility that AA pilots have for Eagle pilots, of course when I come to work I dress and act as a professional and not some kid who walks around thinking that I am better than everyone else because I am dressed as a pilot.

I've had the same experiences. And even if they AA guy is a prick, I just kill him with kindness. That drives most a$$holes crazy.

good advice. it works on gate agents also. i have heard horror stories from gate agents in the A/C concourse in DFW, but i have only been treated well by them. same thing at ORD and LAX.

AAFlyer,
while i do not have a backpack or ipod on, i may look like a slob as you will see me in the AA concourse on day 4, tired as all can be, walking to K19 (ORD). once down the steps the tie immediately comes off (can we not get rid of these yet?!?!). fyi i rode up front from LAS to ORD on a 757 and the CA and FO were very interested in how an ipod could be connected to listen while in cruise, so it's not just an eagle thing.

I was going to ask if we had met, but when you mentioned Fantasy Ranch Oh well, that was a few years ago, fun:) )

Glad you were treated well, I met a few guys in training, we had some drinks together and have kept in touch.

Take Care,

AA

Letter 3 (the flowthrough/flowback debacle) dies this spring, and so too does the flowthrough to AA.

Letter 3 expires in May of 2008. What happens to flowthrus with AA seniority numbers has not been determined. Most likely an arbitrator will decide that.

In 18 months, most of the 400+ flowbacks will be gone. Great news for those with less than about sen. # 1600. Then if flowthru's are denied flow, and no new aircraft, then the movement grinds to a halt. IF the smaller RJ 's beging leaving and Eagle shrinks, then well..................you figure it out.

Bottom line right now, is that the Jury is still out on the future attractiveness of Eagle.

Well,

What do you think a 4 day on the S80 looks like. My next trip is a 4 day at 27:05, Every day has 4 legs a day, two of them half way across the country. What, you don't think we work hard over here?

As for the ipod, yea? I have one as well, didn't realize the guys were asking you how to wear it around the terminal?

Surprised you didn't give the usual shouldn't you be out picking up OT with furloughes on the street. I have seen your remarks about AA pilots, and on the eagle lounge, you are a real nice guy.

Do you tell the guys in the jumpseat of an AA jet how you feel about them? Or do you just smile and act nice.

Hope it works out for all, I know this has been a bad deal for you guys, however there seems to be some complaints of horrible treatment of our flowbacks. Some of the things I have heard have been pretty bad. It seems EGL ALPA has also done nothing but things to make life miserable for the flowbacks.

It has been a rough few years for all, hopefully we can work out or differences and move forward.

Regards,

AAflyer

Not everything ALPA has done has been against the flowbaacks. The recent MBIT that was approved by ALPA will possibly do wonders for them in terms of QOL.

Eagle was good to me. I was a summer 99 hire. Upgraded just before 9/11 then got downgraded(made it to ground school). left 2 years ago for SkyWest and now hold RJ CA. If I was still at Eagle I would just be re-upgradeing in the Saab. and maybe RJ CA in 3 years. My guess a new hire there a 5 yr upgrade. I agree with a previous post if you are #1000-1600 the next 2 years will be finally what you were waiting for!

as a matter of fact we did talk about the furloughees and they agreed that AA pilots should not be picking up OT with people on the street. we also discussed pension issues and retirement issues. we also discussed Arpey and what he said in the CNBC piece (which had just aired).

what is wrong with saying that AA pilots should NOT be picking up OT with people on the street? just like at eagle we should not be picking up OT and yet complain about the staffing woes.....

so tell me how i feel about AA pilots? the flowbacks here are great (for example AA73's buddy the "paisan") and if they are a representative of the AA pilots as a whole, i have no problems with them. i am sure you have your 2% just like we do.

also my point was to not compare our 4 days with yours, but i would like to point out:
- min rest overnights here are not behind the door
- we do not get meals on board
- we have lovely 30 min turns and heaven forbid an s80 parks next to us as we then become a second class citizen with the rampers

the "horrible" treatment is a PAST issue as far as I have heard. some of the flowbacks have less overall experience than the people they fly with, but through the magic of this arrangement they are in the left seat. of course i have been called a "scope" jet at ATL and told from ops that certain gates were for "A-A jets, not A-E" while we waited.

one recent "horrible treatment" story i heard was a flowbie complaining to the ORD AA CP about being called an "Eagle pilot" and he/she took offense. is that "horrible treatment"? i'm guessing this is also the type of guy/gal who has "Ca" or "Capt" on their nametag on their leather jacket.

bottomline: whether flowback or not, once that door closes it is the two of you AGAINST everyone in the world until the door opens again. a team doesn't necessarily work if petty issues (like these flowback "issues" generally are) are present.

I am sure that AMR mgmt loves to see the two pilot groups (AA/AE) against each other, and sometimes I wonder if stories are fabricated by them to create the drama. It would be the worst nightmare for mgmt to see unity between the two.

Why Would the flowthroughs be denied flow???? The big question is wether they will be recalled in seniority order, not wether they will flow.... I strongly agree that any flowthrough capt. should HAVE to flow since it opened up a seat.
I jump on AA a good amount, and maybe I've just been lucky, but I find most guys pretty nice. I'd even say most of those guys have no clue/don't care as to what is going on at eagle, or what they have heard is really misconstrued...
Oh well.....

Prediction for my personal self is 4 to 5 years to upgrade. If anyone wants the skinny on Eagle, go to Eaglelounge.com, not Flightinfo. I back up what atccfi says, though. As siucavflight said, if any of you prospects want an interview, send a PM to any of us Eagle guys with your name and email. We have an internal referencing system.

And you get $500!

They have already bypassed a few of the eagle flowthroughs. I think a greivance has been filed. Will see what happens.

No, you are wrong, no flow has been bypassed, if they were they would go to first year FO pay.

A few months on the property shows.

Flowthru's are supposed to flow via new-hire class. AMR is bypassing the flowthru's and does not consider them furloughees with recall rights. ALPA has greived it (and will almost certainly lose).

It will take at least 18 months for all the flowback/furloughees to get back to AA. Letter 3 will expire by then and it will most likely require arbitration to see if the AA-seniority numbered flowthru's will flow. Those without numbers have already been torpedoed by AA.

New-hire class and Hashish don't mix.

8 Years on the property here.

AMR is not bypassing anybody in the recall. They announced that they will be recalling the furloughed pilots. We are all happy and thankful that this process has begun and the flowbacks will be leaving, so there will be a lot of movement.
