I LOVE this sentence:
"These experts have also testified that, to the extent further testing may be desirable, cardiac stress tests, enhanced blood work-ups, and neurological screening could be added to the standard battery of Class I tests for all pilots."

Let's open up that Pandora's box.

Undaunted, I'm glad to see you continuing to push for the change in spite of the fact that any change will not effect you; you will be retired on 29 Jan 07. Maybe you can effect some change in 2025. Just wait until 2021; I'd like to retire at 60.

It's pretty clear this law is changing. It may be in time for me and maybe not. It may change one way or it may change in another way, but it will change.

Andy: While you say you will retire at age 60, that's something you should not promise because that will probably not be your decision at that time. I would expect that you'll be just like everyone else and keep working as long as you feel like it. There will be nothing magic about age 60 so as to make you feel like retiring at that age.

Retire when you're ready, that's the idea here in my efforts to change the rule. Down the road, most everyone will be grateful for this change and the efforts of APAAD.

FYI, I've changed my plans to move my last January flight up 1 day to FLT 1 on January 26th just in case I don't make the cut. You're still invited to the party Andy, as well as other FI members.

FAA Federal Flight Surgeon has stated that there will be no need to increase medical standards as far as ICAO compliance. And there is no need to change standards in any case.

Undaunted, the problem with APAAD is that they don't give a rat's ass about younger people. I mean can you seriously tell me that we won't face additional concessions with you old guys still around because all the formulas will have to be recalculated to reflect the new rule?

This is not to mention having to babysit you... so if it comes between captain over 60 and FO over 60 bidding the same trip, who gets it? Obviously both can't fly it. Why should captain's seniority override FO's seniority in an FO's seat?

Just goes to show you.... APAAD is nothing but a bunch of self-serving old geezers who want to get even more on the backs of everyone else.

aptly named

Undaunted

Look it up...it means "not faltering or hesitating because of fear or discouragement, undismayed."

That's good. Undaunted really is undaunted...but soon will be undaunted driver...no longer undaunted flyer. Thank God for that.

Who says Undaunted didn't plan ahead? Good move UF.

For the people who read quickly, one of the comments listed above is from

an American Airlines captain who is an APA member. The way you have it listed it implies the whole group. APA and a majority of it's members are against raising the 60.

HOW OLD are these videos?

The first one was broadcast on 11/22/06. The second was broadcast in May, '06.

Has anyone seen the USA Today Feature Editorial on the age 60 issue in today's paper? (Page 17A) Very well done.

This editorial represents the opinion of the America's newspaper. USA today has the largest circulation of any newspaper.

USA Yesterday barely qualifies as a mullet wrapper. If you're hangin' your hat on that, you're hurtin'.
