If 90% of Skywest new hire classes are ASA guys, then why would Jerry be motivated to settle the contract??? At that rate, logic tells me that eventually everyone will be a non-union Skywest new hire pilot.

Exactly. Jerry is going to get what he wants either way. Jerry isn't a dummy. He is making ALPA look pretty silly now.

We as a pilot group -not the union need to come forward and say if we do not get our contract we will walk -legal or not. No one has went to jail for a job action and no one will go. If we walk this whole thing will fold -overnight! And the way you do it is very simple, buy airtime on CNN, explain what the background of the problem is, what solutions have been exhausted and then on CNN or whoever say -"We expect a fair contract by this date at this time or we will walk on the spot". If we as a group are held hostage by an outdated (in my opinion) railway labor act, we need to step up to the plate. We can only help ourselves at this point. If we keep letting the management keep getting away with this UNETHICAL type of undermining we are the only ones to blame.

So the union can't strike but you actually think a wildcat strike can be achieved. How do you propose we organize it? Who is going to pay for the time on CNN? It seems so easy to just pull off a strike, but it isn't that easy. Are you going to organize this?

Easy.......Cough...Cough hello scheduling, not coming in this week!!

Why do you want to help? If there was enough support I would get the airtime that is how strong I feel about this. It is time a pilot group had some balls and did what someone else should have years ago. When is enough, enough? Are we as pilots going to continue to lower the bar to the point were we make less than someone at a fast food joint? We are not to far away from that. And if ANYONE and I do mean ANYONE actually believes for one second this would not get ALPA's, Skywest Management, ASA management, Delta management, the government, the shareholders of the respective companies, and MOST IMPORTANTLY - THE PUBLIC'S attention as to what is really going on in this industry. Power is in numbers. And the more people understand your cause and you educate them, which is something in my opinion ALPA has failed at every level to do, you will not get results. This something that would draw enough attention whether positive or negative does not matter it will give an end result one way or another. At least I will not take bentover. And the respect gained from fellow peers will be unmeasured. Seems to me alot of people like to be status quo in life-and that is ok, but this is a drastic situation and needs to be addressed that way. My advice is sit back, relax, enjoy the flight. Because when this plane that is being flown by management lands you can bet your butt it will be parked on time and you will NOT have a connecting flight, get the picture pal.

Man am I glad I got the keys to the corporate lounge! Guys and gals, you would not believe the treatment on the outside! Get out of the coal mine. Let those management pricks run the place themselves.

At one crazy time I almost bought into staying at ASA and going for the wreath around the star. But, with the DFW closure it has been downhill ever since and will not change, sad to say. And, I bought into the belief that the Skywest purchase would be positive, sadly no.

I will always have fond memories of ASA but, thank God, that is all ASA will ever be to me.

God-speed and get out while you can- Rum

Recently spoke to a friend and fellow ASA pilot who is a fairly senior FO as far as ASA goes (I am a fairly senior Captain). He called me to let me know that he resigned with his two week notice. The day he resigned he was also told by a CP -who will remain nameless because he is a good guy, they have had no less than 150 to 200 resignations in the last month and the number is expected to increase. My buddy has accepted a postion at Skywest and he should be a EMB120 Capt in 6-10 months. I told him congrats! My question is simple it is to the UNION, ASA MANAGEMENT, and SKYWEST. What are you doing to ensure this company will stay productive and around in 1 year,5,10,20,etc. Its seems to me that as long as the contract is not resolved you WILL have poor attitudes because pilots need to know how they plan on paying for a kid, college, or in this case re-training for a new career. This is a big issue! I have always supported our LEC but I have to say I am losing confidence in thier affectiveness, and no I am not supporting the others looking to take thier places. As far as the management goes we have been continuously lied to be our current managemant and they should be let go. Now to the guy pulling BL's cord, Mr. Atkin, you sir need to realize if you can come to some sort of meeting yourself with our union I am quite sure our pilot group will be your best friend, provided we are treated FAIRLY! The problem with ASA is very simple the company's management tactics are in the darktimes. I for one will graciously accept a fair contract, that being said I will also walk the line if needed. Also on another note, my buddy's class date at SKW is approx. 90% ASA guys and gals. So back to the union here, guys it is time for somethings to be done - CONTRACT OR STRIKE. SOON!

That number is way off they have had 38 in the last month
