That is because we just had so many guys get fed up and quite that everyone is getting a composite and we have about a third of our normal reserves. That means that all those composite line holders are going to be flying well over 90 hrs and have only 8 days off after all the junior manning that is going on. I have already lost 2 of my off days to JM and it's only the second day of the month!

If we lose any more pilots to greener pastures, we can say that all new hires will get a hard line immediately out of IOE. But since we won't have any composite/reserve line holders, is that really a good thing?

My advice, go elsewhere... you'll still be flying under some crappy regional contract but at least you will be doing it as a Captain. CHQ or SKW are way better options. (Having friends at both airlines, just my opinion)

I think crash is FO on the ATR at Eagle.

Just curious Eagle-ista, why should Eagle piots with numbers get "recalled" to AA if they were never "furloughed" from AA to begin with? Yes, they had numbers here but they never flowed through. As such, they can flow through only when there is a "new hire" class, not a "recall."

Do you know any differently?

Do they pick numbers out of a hat when they recall, or do they do it by seniority number? If it's by seniority number (and it is), why wouldn't they recall AE guys with numbers? Our discussion here is really irrelevant since this will go to an arbitrator....as usual.

Anyone know what the eagle road show is like.

How many days out.
How many off.

I am in Miami. What are the chances of getting base there?
(this would make reserve a breeze).

My preference is the ATR props.
Dont ask why, I just like the nostalgia.

Flying for fun, I hope to generate enough funds with my part time biz to feed myself.

Right now I CFI part time and do the biz part time. CFI pay is @ $15 with top pay at $24 for the MEIs. So I would consider Eagle an upgrade.

Also, please explain this JM that most folks are complaining about.

Hi Amaineiac, (and the other two that questioned my post)

It is indeed by seniority number. But it is by *furloughed* AA seniority number. Here is the link: http://www.alliedpilots.org/Members/Contract/2003/Eagle/Kasher_Supp_W_Opinion_081203.PDF

Page 5, sec III(D) clearly states that if a CJ pilot accepts the flowthrough, he/she will be placed in the next *new hire* class at AA. A *new hire* class means that we are hiring, and is not the same as a recalled furloughee class, when we are not.

I understand the concept that no Eagle CA would want to flow up anymore. But regardless of the few flowthroughs that would take it, our furloughed AA pilots will get recalled first, per the contract. Then, when AA starts hiring again, these flowthrough CAs would have the chance to do it (if anyone really wants to.)

I guess I just don't see why this would go to arbitration, when it is clear that *furloughees*, not AE flowthroughs, are recalled in seniority order.

Cheers,

printed contracts mean nothing. ours states...

III. Employment Opportunities at AA for AMR Eagle, Inc. Pilots
A. At least one (1) out of every two (2) new hire positions per new hire class
at AA will be offered to CJ Captains who are line pilots and who have
completed their IOE at AMR Eagle, Inc. Such positions will be offered to
the CJ Captains who are line pilots in order of their AMR Eagle, Inc.
seniority.

we all know how that was followed, it was more like 1 in 30.

My Two cents:

THe Training department is probably (it is) the best i've ever dealt with, bar none.
The crews I flew with were top notch, and have many friends still there today.
The equipment was decent, and i worked the system enought to get a decent schedule.

THats where the pluses end...

After 7 years of dealing withe the BS that scheduling and management threw upon us in heaps and piles, i finally got some balls and left.... And Low and Behold, my blood pressure dropped, i was a happy person at home again, and I love my profession still.

Is it a stable place? Sure is. Is it a good first airline job?? I think so.
Want to stay sane after a few years of dealing witht the Texas Mafioso style of management and doctorine? Do you want your mental health to remain?
Build your time and find a better place.

I did, and i am a better person for it.

los..i dont fly for Eagle so i dont want to even begin to answer the actual questions about the line flying there....but to answer you jm question....it stands for junior manning...it bassicly when the company "tries" to get a hold of you on your day off and "strongly suggest" that you go fly....the trick is to not answer the phone if you actually want a day off.....

That's only half right. Their favorite juniorman tactic is to "extend" you at the end of your trip. So you get back, think you're going home, and BAM! You've got another overnight to go on. This is what they do because nobody at home on their day off is dumb enought to answer the phone when it says "UNAVAILABLE".

So far they have really impressed me, and what will make it really easy for me is that I got a base that is a 15 minute drive from my house, so I am really excited about my decision to be here, everyone is friendly and the instruction has been top notch. And what is really great is that out of IOE I should be able to hold a line within two months at the most, the most junior man in ORD now is holding a composite line. IMO this place is top notch!

Eagle actually is a decent regional to work for....IF you don't commute, get off reserve quickly, and don't mind waiting a long time to upgrade.
