I think it is great what you are trying to do.

All union contracts are won or lost at the kitchen table, don't listen to the nay sayers. I was at NetJets, when it was ExecJet, in the earlier 90's, our union was pretty weak, glad to see it has turned around.

I wish the women at our union now(fdx alpa) would get involved like this, two years w/out a contract. Good luck and keep it up!!

Well, thats her job to keep it up. Keep it up and keep that boostier tight.

Nice comment C680. It lifts and separates. LOLOL.

Thanks, Brian! I know personally how discouraging it can be when one is involved in an uphill battle. Absolutely, it is a family affair--after all, the entire family is affected. For single pilots that would be those close to them. The other side wants to see the pilots give up. Being able to draw upon a strong source of encouragement keeps them in the fight. Sometimes just knowing that others care and believe in the rightness of your cause can make a big difference, especially when progress is slow. It is my goal to be such a voice. Best of luck to all those standing up for what is right. NJW

PROFESSIONAL TREATMENT AND COMPENSATION FOR PROFESSIONAL PILOTS IS RIGHT

There is more to life than always trying to fight. I have also found it's much more natural to come home and NOT talk about careers and work....

...but that's just me....

I'm sure you're looking forward to your husbands next amendable date. Have fun.

I think it'd be great if the pilots were all willingly treated --respected and compensated--like the skilled professionals they are. Having the company honor their contract commitments without a fight would be a far preferable situation. I'd certainly like to see the other frac pilots already have the contract they deserved/earned, as well. Reality says that won't happen unless they stand up for themselves, though. The pilots spend enough time away from home as it is. Certainly they would like to focus on their personal lives but the way things are in the industry right now working on their careers by building strong unions with their peers must be a priority if they are to achieve the job return they have worked for and are owed.

My husband works constantly trying to improve conditions for the NJ pilots right now. Compliance, representation, committee work, etc are all ongoing concerns for a strong union. If they only waited until the contract expired to take action they'd be far behind the power curve...

I'd do your husband's job for half his rate...heck, a quarter if the schedule is good and I have home basing.

I just need turboject PIC time to move on to the majors.

You are whats wrong with aviation. Do your time, be patient, when you are worth more than .02 then you can demand a QOL and pay you deserve.

Obvious flame bait.

One thing is certain, NetJetWife has an astronomical amount of time on her hands to fight her crusade, that is for sure.

If I were unhappy in my job, my wife would have to quit her job to spend half as much time.

Not enough families spend enough time being a family.

IMO, NetJetWife lives to work a crusade...

...and while noble, it's mis-guided IMO.

I agree with you about families; mine is very close. My brother was one of my best friends and we used to talk on the phone and email daily. Brett was very supportive of the pilots and their contract battle. Family support makes a critical difference and the leaders of 1108 understand that. You would be hard pressed to find an 1108 pilot who would characterize Strong Union and their battle as "misguided". I advocate other pilots to do what SU did. I'll take your uninformed "crusade" comment as a compliment...:p it's currently more fitting than you realize. I'm happy to support professional pilots in their fight to be compensated and treated accordingly. Furthermore, I don't think standing up for justice (be it professionally or personally) is mis-guided, at all. Unfortunately, people can be so morally bankrupt that they will let someone get away with murder.

I don't understand the interest in my schedule, but I'll satisfy your curiosity. I just sat down at my computer to work on our last ditch effort report for the prosecutor. Many who know my family understand that much of my time is taken up with a personal crusade for justice--with the blessing of my family. In between I try to lend support to others who are also fighting for what is right.

My husband is currently satisfied with his job at NJA, though it wasn't that way until the pilots stood up for themselves and demanded the fairness they had earned. How much easier life would be if those in position of authority didn't abuse it, and we could all count on being giving due process without having to use leverage just to make others follow the rules. Alas, such is not the case. So my husband continues to volunteer with 1108, helping to keep the union strong and the contract enforced. As a family we've decided the cause is worth the sacrifice. Lucky for the NJ pilots they have leaders who feel that way.

As for our personal battle, I gave them lots of chances to do the right thing. Time for me to look for some strong help, too. Whether it's a frac pilot demanding professional compensation, or a family member insisting a murder is investigated, when you stand alone it's too easy for those unwilling to listen to ignore you. Yes, I do have a very low tolerance for injustice and a high regard for those who fight it.
