As far as all this- would you leave this for that, and that for this BullS***, I would never, ever leave NJ for a US major. after December 7th, 2008, leaving NJ for CO, UA or SW would be a lateral move/ a side step in my opinion.

There is nothing "Lateral" about it.. it is a DOWNGRADE... Until you have experienced life as a 121 airline pilot and a netjets pilot you wont understand that working for an airline can not hold a candle to working for NJ...

What is the current upgrade time at NJ.

who cares....You can make more at NJA as a 5 yr f/o than a 5 yr capt at any regional..Guys its about money and days off.(thats it) Is your ego so big you have to sit in the left seat..Those guys usually are the guys in charge of contract neg.

there has always got to be some smart&!&% on these posts. Grow up! Yes, his initials are JF. From what I hearing, I think I will jump ship from a "Good Regional", for you F-sticks out there. oxymoron this....

No need to take it personally bud. You asked, he provided his opinion,.

I happen to agree with his opinion. I do not consider any regional job "good"

I consider Major 121 positions as possible neutral options so long as the name doesn't begin with US AIR and at any other US Carrier my hire date was pre 1980.

Too much turmoil and uncertainty in the 121 biz these days to take my family on that ride. Far too much uncertainty to sit back and learn about what's next in my life by reading USA Today or watching Robin and Co on CNN Headline News.

Don't get me wrong... I LOVE Robin.

Given the choice, I'll take the stable certainty of the now vs the hurricane we once referred to as "the show" at Brand X, Y or Z.

The music is stopping and the chairs are getting yanked. I'd look to land here if I were on the outside looking in today.

We will...just give it time. I'd say that in the next five years, we'll see salaries very similar to (if not higher than) SW.

I don't think so. I bet all the majors will jump their pay in the long run. Once a owner realizes they pay a beech jet driver 150k he will cancel his contract, and find some corp pilots to run his own jet for less. I am just worried about Day Jet taking over.

I fly an owner who brings his own Flight Attendant ... The F/A told me his pay is $150K.

"The F/A told me his pay is $150K."

Yeah, but what sort of "service" is required for that amount of coin??? Things that make me go Hmmm.

Day Jet is not in competition with the fractionals. The majority of the fractional pax out there wouldn't or couldn't settle for a VLJ that cannot either take their luggage, have the range, and/ or have the capability to take more than 3 or 4 pax. Day Jet may very well add more customers to the fracs as more people try out private jet travel, like it, and then demand more than a VLJ will give them. I don't know whether or not the fracs will ever pay as much as the top airlines, but they have now become better than most other pilot jobs.

Is this the same owner that pays $5,000 for catering?
Just curious.

because of NJA,corp pilots are now demanding better wages and QOL items.. Most know how much we make, $50k is not going to make an owner question his contract with NJA. THEY ARE NOT GOING BACK TO THE AIRLINES..

Thanks for the support Dawg.

Somehow I think I will still be a f---stick. (I'm not sure what that is. Are you???)

If I am a f---stick, what does that make someone like George Bush, or Barry Bonds, or OJ Simpson? ;)

On second thought...stay where you are Skyking !
You are the complete idiot who used "GOOD" and "REGIONAL" in the same sentence. Please put down the koolaid... :puke:

u might change ur mind when u bust ur azz as an fo for 5 yrs. coming up on yea 3 real quick and i care a he!! of a lot. Oh, by the way SWA can make over 100k pretty easy at yrs 2 and 3 as an fo, until we get to that level we should all care, which by the way we deserve for the workload and & 7 day trips.

You misunderstood my post. SWA is a great job and that's the point. Once there who cares about upgrade. Same at most frax (NJ, FJ, CS). FO there beats regional capt anyday.

At frax it's nice to be capt of your own ship and the better pay is great however right seat life is good too, comparetively speaking.

And yes I agree, we need SWA pay for the work we do.

Not quite sure how you pulled me into this. I believe you have me confused with someone else.

Next time you post a disparaging remark at someone, maybe you should look at the name that you are quoting. Just a thought...

One is the 2nd best President (after Reagan) we have had in our lifetimes.

Like Ricky Bobby says, "If you ain't first, you're last."

True it is like crack to them.

Do you get typed as a new hire or have to wait for upgrade?

All pilots are typed. New-hires get their type before starting IOE or after indoc, depending on how you want to look at it.

If you understood the dynamics of wealth, the ability to exercise that wealth, and the egos that come with it, you'd understand why your statement couldn't be further from the truth. If you were right, we wouldn't be making the money we're making now.

BWAAAAAAHAAAAAHAAAAHAAAHAAAAAHAAAA!!!!! *gasp* *snort* BWAAAAAAAHAAAAAHAAAAHAAAAHAAAHAAAA!!!! *gasp* *sniff*

Oh boy, I think I blew a lung out my nose laughing so hard at that one.

Just think back over your life and try to find a time when things were better than they are now.... Only the 80's.

You mean when deficit spending was out of control, and real estate came crashing down at the end?

Kinda reminds me of right now, actually....

Okay...my eyes are closed and I'm thinking....

My entire state could be flooded if predictions are correct on Global Warming and the seas rising 25 some feet.

Peak Oil concerns make global meltdown a real possibility.

Every two years or every election cycle (depending how you look at it) my government scares the hell out me with the War on Terror.

There's also a War on Drugs

...And a War on the Middle Class

...And a War on the Constitution

...And a War on Family Values

Every time I go to work I pass by the TSA. Do I need to say more?

I can't sell my home now due to a wonderful housing market.

We owe more money than you could possible believe. Really...there are a hundred times fewer stars in the Milky Way Galaxy than US Dollars we owe. US Debt: 9 Trillion. Stars in Galaxy: 100 Billion

We have Super Flu that is immune to antibiotics. Guess where you get this bug....the hospital. That's great.

Killer Bees. Do I need to say more here?

Our schools are HORRIBLE. They do little other than teach a test. Instead of no child left behind it's no child gets ahead. The weakest link in every class is now the bar.

The nations jobs are being exported much faster than our goods. This would be okay if we had a robust education system that kept us ahead, but see above. We don't.

Our citizens care more about Britney Spears than they do about our combat troops in Iraq.

Roe V. Wade is being chipped away at.

There's a lunar eclipse right now.

American Idol is on right now.

Right now is the worst my life has ever been. Republicans can kiss my @ss!

geez, you're such a glass half empty kind of person!

I am a Capt at OO and thinking about going to NetJets. Good move?

Its a good question and not that easy of an answer. I made the move from regional to fractional and thought it was a good move, but...seven days is a long time to be gone every time you leave. I liked the schedule, but its not for everyone. If your getting 18 or so days off now and live where your based, etc, it should be a harder decision. For some people, I thing NJ is a great job and that schedule works great, but its not for everyone, and there isn't much flexability for your schedule if you need certain days off each month. Everybody has to make their own determination of what makes a job good to them.

It sucks to be him. earth warming since the last ice-age and the government cant do anything about it.... damn.... Paid to much for his house ... govt's fault you know. Kids are too dumb to get into private school... yep its my fault.

You know there is a place close by where the govt provides housing and schooling and medical... its called Cuba. That wonderful place that Ms Reno sent Elian to. The only illegal alien the libs want to deport.... while terrorists were taking flying lessons nearby.

Thanks Gen Reno.... Bang-up job keeping us safe from 6 yr old Cuban boy whose mother died trying to escape Fidel's paradise.

Thats why we have TSA lines... and you know they work ... Tampa Passenger Had Box Cutter In Hollowed-Out Book!
