Women Freight Pilots

Guys- How common and do they exist?
With the odd hours, and mostly at night, would you say a female pilot would feel safe? A lot of descriptions of FBO's at night on here pretty much say otherwise, but curious to know.

I've been a freight broad for flight express for just over a year now. So far, I haven't had any problems with loading during the wee hours, and have never felt unsafe. Also, flying those odd hours, if you purr sweetly enough into the mic, ATC will give you clearance to the moon!

USA Jet has hired about 15 over the year I have been here. They don't seem to last very long, get some jet time and move on. We have too women on-demand cargo pilots right now. One on the DA-20 and one on the DC-9

Central Air has had a couple that I know of. One moved on to Ameriflight, the other to Telesis (Paragon).

There's an EMB-120 FOess flying for Ameriflight I see every night.

When I was in Kansas City, doing my recurrent in December, I saw a blonde haired young lady jump into a Flight Express 210...that wasn't you wildfreightess???

As far as the radio thing goes...on my ATP ride, I had to blush when the female controller at MKC asked where I was from (I have a bit of an accent) - second time that's happened during checkrides.

IIRC, 10 to 12% is about the average for all the large carriers -- and has been for quite some time. It belies the widely held theory that you can sashay into an airline job with 300 hours -- if you're a girl.

Flying freight is good for girls, Foxy. You'll ruin your nails and you can forget the high heels you mentioned elseforum, but you'll never have to put up with any BS about whether or not you're as good as the next pilot -- you either get the job done, or you don't. If you don't, nobody wants you around, whether you're male or female. If you do, you're a freight dog.

But, properly speaking, wouldn't a female freight dog be a ... ?

I honestly think freight would be fun, seeing as how I'm not a sit and watch kinda girl and I like a good challenge. I wonder how many people have gone from flying pax to boxes?
I have been told I work very well under pressure. I definitely prefer to get it done and get a little dirty doing it! Fun, fun, fun. I will have to look into some SoCal freight flying....

We have 3 freight kitty's at Ameristar 2cpt's and 1 fo. They do the job just as good as the guys and are just as much fun out on the road!!

We have two at ramair and I think there is a new one we just hired. Plus our D.O. is a girl(woman) she started as a line pilot. She seems to ore off a hardass then most of the guys.

Quite a few.

I have moved back and forth between boxes and pax and boxes, etc.

Much prefer the boxes, or rather the pallets to the pax.

Met a female Atlas B744F F/O at "Acey Deuceys" in KOSH a couple of years back. She had a tattoo on her butt which she was showing to everyone at the bar. Nice butt. Average tatt.

We sang "you've lost that loving feeling" to her. She swooned. Someone got lucky (I think).

Two weeks later saw her in a hotel elevator in Singapore and reminded her of the serenade (and the tatt) but I didn't get lucky - now that I think about it, neither did she.

She's out there fellas. Sing to all the female pilots and hey, you never know.

I am also one of the few and the proud to have made the switch from PAX to BOX carrying. Very glad I made the switch too......had I stayed with the PAX job (would have been 6 years now), I still wouldn't have upgraded to Capt. It was a "regional", by the way. And, I might have even been looking at a furlough!!! Instead, I have been at the new job almost 2 years, and already made the upgrade.

And, in the immortal words of one of my highly regarded Captains at the PAX job, as I was leaving.........Boxes Don't B*tch!

Well, in most cases no. But they do on occasion and you don't want to be around when they do as it usually results in fire, being incapacited or becoming disabled by being exposed to toxic chemicals. UPS just had a DC-8 that had some boxes that b*tched up a storm!

Still it's better flying freight than pax!
