Let's review this.

You signed on to an open aviation forum to castigate someone who legitimately answered a question posed by one of your pilots as to what they thought of your BOD President. Not caring for the answer, you state that it shouldn't be discussed in the first place. I guess you are entitled to your opinion, but no one else is.

If you sincerely think this shouldn't be discussed on Flightinfo, report the post to a Mod and have it reviewed. Unfortunately for you court records are public, so if others want to gain a little perspective on the PHL deice incident, they could look here and see how SWAPA, led by Captain Kuwitzky, kicked a First Officer to the curb in an effort to get rid of someone management decided was a 'bad apple'.

Carl's meddling with the negotiating process leading up to TA2 is why you are saddled with an unexceptional contract and an implementation schedule that might be complete by the time you open Section 6 the next time around. Fortunately for the enlightened members of your association, the next election for President is just around the corner. I suggest that you and your fellow pilots take the election seriously and not let it become a rubber stamp for the next back-slapper in line.

WOW! nice find. And people think ALPA is bad! Well, it is, but compared to SWAPA....
Don't worry about some of the sw skirts on here, the minute you say anything negative about their beloved airline, their panties get in a wad!
Most of these girls on here only got hired there because of their PFT program!

Dues suck. Getting disciplined unfairly sucks more. Getting fired sucks the mostest.[/QUOTE]

I think this should go on T-shirts. It pretty much sums up the reason a bunch of us--especially guys who don't come from union backgrounds--learn to participate and support them at our airlines.

Some things to ponder that make SWAPA's management of my and other member's money:

1. SWAPA members vote on the annual budget (submitted by SWAPA committee chairs and approved by the SWAPA BoD before submission to the members for a vote), it has been voted down in the past and had to be re-worked by the BoD;
2. each month expenditures are posted on the website for transparency by committees and category;
3. inquires on how/where money is spent can be made to SWAPA's CFO and get pretty detailed info;
4. reps submit monthly "work reports" that provide transparency on their reimbursements from SWAPA for their work.
5. A petition process that allows members to seek reductions if a majority of members wish for this to occur (my preference is to keep the current dues structure in place until reaching 2.5 x annual budget in the reserve fund for many reasons).
6. Expenditures over and above a set budgeted amount must be approved by the BoD with notification to the membership (there is an upper limit that even the BoD must remain within)

In perspective, I think SWAPA's elected officials are generally good stewards of the members money.

Small insurance premium for a guaranteed, lifetime job. How many non-union jobs have that insurance?

I think that FO should have been fired

I think you should get your facts straight before making a statement like that. Jan got caught in the company's line of fire trying to terminate J.A. Then the union completely threw her under the bus. I hope she wins big in court and gets herself a nice retirement bonus.

Lets get this straight. DO YOU WORK FOR SOUTHWEST AIRLINES? If you do please continue, you are welcome to your opinion. If you do not go mind your own damm bidness

Democratic party has had congress for four years and the white house for one. How is the middle class and airline industry? Sh_t comes to mind.

Give it time... The neocons created a convoluted mess-
Joe- you're too dumb to debate economics with- dems are as pro-business as anyone-they just think in long term consequences and not solely off the ticker-*****they also aren't naive enough to think business leaders will choose to do the right thing if it means earning less money-

Which brings me to SWA- if all you wners wanted to work for a republican, maybe you should have- you didn't though- you chose to work for Herb- and he shared the wealth and spread it around- maybe in the long run that's a better policy- maybe shocker- greed isn't good, but rather- one of the 7 deadly sins.

Again- you're contract comes from democrat/leftist policies- don't forget it-

No. I do not work for Southwest.

Let me get this straight. If I don't work for Southwest I can't have an opinion of your BOD President, even if I have a fairly comprehensive knowledge of his actions?

Just in case you haven't figured it out, I'm not going to recognize your prohibition commenting on Carl. You aren't one of the ND40, are you?

Yes you have it straight, shut your mouth. Regardless of your self appreciating "comprehensive knowledge".

Doesn't work that way... he'll speak his mind.... forums are like porn...... you can choose to watch or shut it off... two choices, pick one, press forward, life goes on.

Who do you think will be paying that? WN or SWAPA? The lawsuit is a DFR claim which would be paid by SWAPA - or more directly all of the other WN pilots. She should get nothing

So wrongfully terminated, reputation destroyed by your own union and company and she should get nothing?

Gup

....Dues suck. Getting disciplined unfairly sucks more. Getting fired sucks the mostest. Having programs and people that help the line pukes makes it nice though.

Don't forget: Paying dues to a "union" as a condition of continued employment, and that "union" uses your dues money to conduct unnecessary, fruitless, hopeless litigation sucks just slightly less than getting fired.

Inquiring minds want to know: Did the FO and/or Capt get their job back? What came of this case?

This silly dues reduction would have saved me about 7 bucks from my last paycheck. What a complete waste of time and effort by people that just want to try to stay relevent I guess.

If my dues are being used to pay for SWAPA leadership to fly to DC and give $$ to Harry Reid then I think it's time to put them on a monetary diet. Just my so humble opinion--I'll be voting yes.

Give it time... The neocons created a convoluted mess-
Give it time...a very convenient cover for lack of any real change. When are you going to wake up and realize that a Red M&M and a Blue M&M still come out the same color in the end?

What's more important: The votes of 53,000 airline pilots, or 300 million consumers?

Again- you're contract comes from democrat/leftist policies- don't forget it-
And it's taken a big nose dive after the "Liberal Lion" co-authored the deregulation bill-don't forget it.

So you think the industry ought to be regulated?
You don't like capitalism?

talk all you want- republicans do NOT support us on any level. Don't be confused when you vote for them and then your contract gets gutted.

Were your parents brother and sister?
Who cares dumbass, it's just a job. I'm all about safety of my country first, which your moronic leaders have continued to make this country a more dangerous place and more welcoming to terrorists.
Don't worry though, as more of you idiots get voted out of office and/or step down because of fear of not being re elected, the tide will turn.

So you think the industry ought to be regulated?
Not by the current set of lawmakers

If I tell you what you want to hear, will you vote for me?

Who needs to talk when the facts can speak for themselves? We have pilots flying jets for poverty level wages...where are your liberal lions for that? They're out at another campaign fundraiser whispering sweet nothings into the ears of another group of workers. Republicans and Democrats are both in the pocket of Big Business. It's part of why there's always an excuse when our interests are put on the back burner after the elction. Sorry for sounding crass...but who gives a flying rat-******************** about Haiti?!

"The dems are as pro-business as anyone"? Are you smoking something you shouldn't be? Are Pelosi and Obama as business friendly as Ron Paul?

The "neocons" didn't create this mess...WE ALL did. The FOs I flew with who tried to convince me that buying condos in PFN for zero down because they would be going up 10% per year were part of the problem...The libs who decided we should make it easier for poor people and people with bad credit to own homes were part of the problem... The reward bad behavior crowd is part of the problem....

We need to take our lumps and learn from our mistakes...Obama simply wants to reward those who made bad decisions....

1. First I want a secure country.
2. Next I want a thriving economy.
3. Then I want a thriving company.
4. Then I will worry about my contract...Take care of the first 3, and the last one becomes much easier...Trash the first 3 and no contract you have will be worth the paper it is written on....Very simple concept....

What if your leaders have decided that a thriving economy is much easier to attain with cheap airfares- cheaper than market? What then? I guess your job gets more secure-
the rush parrots are back at it-
those something for nothing bubble maniacs were part of it- but what caused it? An environment where risk didn't matter- that's when- and that only happened when large financial institutions were allowed to consolidate-
republicans and corporations pushed for that- Clinton signed off on it - and we got institutions that literally were too big to fail.

Seven buck will will get you a large Papa Murphy's pizza right now. Hay, free pizza.

Boy, this thread has gone from one kind of stupid to another.
