Why does Mesa use the "Airshuttle" call sign?

Also makes think about "Shuttle Craft," I swear it sounds likes ATC is saying "Shuttle CRAP" most of the time!
 
Professional guys, real professional. Hey I got an idea, instead of being tools why don't you try to help us get a leg up. We're playing for keeps, and we'll be watching who supports us. Got a problem with our contract? Help us make it better, chances are we belong to the same union, come over to our offices and see how you can help. If you take it upon yourself to constantly criticize without making any effort to improve the situation you are part of the problem.

You have a union membership of over a thousand pissed off pilots (so you say) and a Union with a lot of resources to help get a better contract (If you use them) and you are relying on pilots from other airlines to help you get a new contract? Great. My crystal ball sees another $hitty contract about to be passed. Maybe you can give up Per Diem all together because you would normally eat at home anyway. Or 1/2 pay for every leg. That should get you some new contracts.

Dude, you took the words out of my mouth. Let's see who supports us when the fights begin. Instead of everyone's "I'm better than you" attitude, how about sticking together and making this career better for everyone.

What's your crystal ball say about the future of your company, jakkass. Chances are you are also a regional pilot, getting regional pay, with a regional schedule, and a regional quality of life. Chances are you are with a company that used to have pay for training and have to fly with a bunch of whores. You are most likely too junior to really have an opinion, especially regarding a company you don't work for. Maybe, your crystal ball needs fixing.
 
I will happily support your quest for a better contract. But I am not going to drag you kicking and screaming into better pay and QOL. My crystal ball is your pilot groups history of crappy pay and work rules and willingness to sell out for quick upgrades and PIC time. I had one of your pilots on my jumpseat and almost puked as he described his life at MESA. It was more like pilot jail than a negotiated contract. You show the industry that you are willing to stand up for this profession and you will EARN respect. And I am very happy with my company, QOL, retirement fund, and work rules that make you guys look like slaves.

I'll start this off by saying that I will be more than happy to support the Mesa pilot group in their quest to get some real improvements in their next contract, hopefully "raising the bar" (god, I hate that term) for everyone else.

That being said, these "We'll be watching to see who supports us" comments seem a bit, I don't know, selfish, misguided maybe? I think that most regional pilots will be watching Mesa to see what you guys are willing/able to do with the new contract. Are you serious about standing up for yourselves and taking a hard line approach to dealing with JO or will you give in in an attempt to keep the growth and shorter upgrade times coming? Like it or not, your last contract has been held up as the ideal by several management groups and held over the heads of other pilot groups trying to negotiate new agreements, much to their detriment. I realize there were circumstances that may have required you to bend and give in on areas of your last contract, but the precedent it set (or at least contributed to) hasn't been a good one. What are YOU and YOUR pilot group willing to do to help the situation?

It'll be a lot easier for me to support Mesa if I can believe that I'm supporting a pilot group who's working to improve the industry I work in and not using my support as a way to undercut my pilot group in a detrimental (to me) attempt to secure flying and upgrades. As I said, I support you guys and girls in you upcoming negotiations, but the ball is in your court.

Looks like secret squirrel summed it up better than I have, but I don't feel like deleting all my hard work.

You guys are starting to disappoint me. This is the third page of a Mesa thread and nothing about iPods or boards yet.

Well, I can't argue with that. Pretty much all fact. I haven't talked to one of our pilots yet who will put up with the same bull next time around. Most of us old timers are willing to walk. It really depends on the new guys understanding what is at stake. Hopefully, they won't give in to the "quick upgrades and expansion" crap. It's not worth it.
 
Oops, almost forgot. The answer to the original question is the original name was Mesa Air Shuttle. In 1982, Mesa Air Shuttle began scheduled service between Farmington, NM and Albuquerque, NM using a nine passenger Piper Chieftan aircraft.

I bailed on mesa for a numerous good reasons...one of which was a slowly growing suspicion that the pilot group as a whole would not sack up in 2007...

There's a lot of great guys, but there's too many junior san juaners, SJS punks, and rejects from the rest of the airline world who are afraid to get furloughed. Ornstein has those folks right where he wants them, and you know he already has one or more "nuclear options" ready to go for the negotiations. I couldn't bring myself to stick around for another 4 years only to be disapointed (the word disapointed falls way short here).

Good luck, you have my full support, but there will be no sympathy after this one.

I feel sorry for the guys at USA 3000 for having a call sign so close to the $hitheads.....i wonder if the guys at USA ever get their transmissions accidently blocked....that would suck. I think I would go to mgt. and request a call sign change.

Get a leg up just read that article about how if cost go up at your company he'll send more planes to China. We should be helping you guys get a huge contract then you'll dissapear. You guys have cost me money evry job I have had, fight as hard as you guys can so he folds Mesa up..

Your cracking on the people who payed for training, yet you have a 737 type working for Mesa, how much did that COST YOU????

How has Mesa cost you money on every job you had ?
I'm sure the Mesa pilots already have a leg up on what is going on with their company.
Maybe if they get a huge contract then maybe you can make some money again.

Hey pal, before you go patting yourself on the back for how crappy we have it don't forget what was going on at Mesa when that last contract was negotiatied. We have a new MEC and new NEG committe, plus 1 pilot list instead of upwards of 3. The only guys who sold out for growth were the A listers.

As for showing the industry, we're going to fight for our lives. If you want to stop complaining about what I get paid for my job, and want to help us raise the bar, since the ball is in our court now, then I suggest you roll up your sleeves and offer your help. I realize that pilot contracts are like a commodity, and that each contract affects the whole of the profession. So why don't you quit whining.

You hide behind , "well I support you," but always end this stuff with an insult.

You, and most of the other people on here, are providing lip service to the support you offer, but are really just waiting for us to fall on our faces, you're going to be waiting for a while...
