I just want to know why they decided to give themselves 6 hours a day of pay and not 7.... 7 is more than 6.
Mark me down as happy with our reps. This recall is just the usual malcontents. Nothing can make them happy.
I wouldn't limit it to just those groups. Just ask any pilot at Comair if reserve rules are important to a previously line-holding captain or FO. I'm guessing any pilot who wasn't in the top 15% of the total pilot group got to see reserve again, if they were lucky enough to keep their job....I would suggest that everyone both on reserve now and all FO's that plan on being captain some day vote based upon the reserve section.
Our union (crj side) completely sucks when it comes to standing up for our junior pilots.
As for the people who are on reserve now I think the union has done a reasonable job for reservists with MOUs to control the order of ready reserve and allowing those who wanted to make more money to pick up open time trips on their days off. It's not like the union will get the company to change contract language to match XJT reserve rules outside of negotiations.
Completely disagree. PBS itself was a huge stand for junior pilots as folks like me who had been on reserve for over 3 years were able to hold lines. As for the people who are on reserve now I think the union has done a reasonable job for reservists with MOUs to control the order of ready reserve and allowing those who wanted to make more money to pick up open time trips on their days off. Some of you people expect results out of the union like they have some sort of divine power
So vote no then. We all get a say, and a lot of people will be looking at the reserve and scheduling sections.
Ugh.
pbs got people off reserve as a byproduct and only a byproduct.
The mou's are nowhere near reason to believe they do a good job on the junior person's behalf.
As an example of their focus, I overheard a union rep explaining in detail how they are attempting to cherry pick the erj contract. Then, I overheard the rep tell a junior guy that the reserve rules were unattainable and unrealistic after the junior guy asked about 4 for 4 ready reserve (instead of 4 for 8) and about not having to call to be released at the end of an assignment. Apparently these two factors alone would bankrupt the company according to the fancy union rep.
I wonder if the union rep is also considering a push to have the union reps only get 4 hours instead of 6 a day so we ensure profitability. Probably not.
Oh wait, they all signed a confidentiality agreement not to discuss anything from here on out.
I really feel for the erj guys who have tasted some of the good things. It's going to be a lot tougher for them to see everything fall apart than it is for us as we've had a lot less of it here.

Those two items (4 for 4 and wait an hour) alone mean that the MEC is actively trying to get the entire ERJ side of junior folks to work an extra 35 hours a month for no pay, just like the CRJ side has been negotiated into doing. (6 ready reserve periods where you'll work an extra 4 hours for free each time and ~10 airport standbys a month during the busy season).
It's actually close to 12 years on the ATL 7/900!Everyone <8 yrs on the crj side is looking at being on reserve (captains + all fo's.) in the future so it is certainly worth sticking to our guns on.
