Yes we needed to start 10 years ago. If we don't start in the next 5 years then open skies is going to wreak havoc on all of us.

that doesn't make any sense. Every airline pays the same price for fuel. Just because the oil is pumped in N America doesn't mean they are going to sell it at a discount to US Airlines. Fuel is a fixed cost and the only way around high fuel costs is to generate extra revenue or find creative ways to cut costs. Hence the talk of mergers.

No, you're just posting flamebait. The mods should have long since banned you.

Yet another example of this poster judging anyone who does not agree with his narrowly defined perception of the "correct answer."

Tanker Clown appears to be a buffoon, but he is entitled to his opinion. And he makes a good point. Delta guys need to set the bar again.

I see Tanker Clown/jke's other screen name has made an appearance.

Unfortunately, I guess the answer was ATA. What an incredible swing (as well as unfortunate)of events for ATA over the last 5 years. Good luck to all. I wonder now if many of these smaller carriers (Frontier, Spirit, Sun Country) are getting close to shutdown as well. Are the new bankruptcy laws such that you'd rather gamble until the money is all gone instead of filing well ahead of that time to keep it running?

Let hope that Skybus is one of the next ones.

I think that UAL and a few other mentioned above are in deep doo doo as well.

Ten bucks says that Tanker Clown is a disgruntled, retired Delta Captain. Prove to me that I am wrong.

If that is not the case then it is really sad that someone who has nothing to do with the industry hates an entire group of people so much. My heart bleeds at the thought.
