Why do you bash ALPA and our lovely TSA management to make yourself feel beter? Every regional is gonna be hurt by the lowlifes at HoJet, maybe not right away, but soon. So my question is, Why not back the guys at TSA to improve all our working conditions?

The problem with backing you on your misguided effort to trash Go-Jet is you have already lost! It won't improve anything for the pilots of TSA to do so and it likely will scare a few impressionable people away from a legitimate job opportunity. Times certainly are tough for all of us in the airline industry now but I draw the line at you guys trying to cloak a local dispute in which you are on the losing side into a National issue. It is not a National issue. Go-Jet is not doing anything any other Regional hasnt done for years. Many dont like the payscales and benefits at Go-Jet or any other Regional for that matter but that is my point. They are all the same. You guys can't make it a bigger issue cause it really just doent fly. I wish TSA pilots well but it appears to this observer that you keep getting bad advice. If you are ever going to turn things around maybe you should regroup and come up with different tactics that actually work to improve your life instead of bashing another pilot group for no productive purpose.

What makes you think that all regionals are the same???

Mesaba is a hell of a lot different from Skywest which is different from Horizon and so on and so on. Do some research or at least ask some of the other regional pilots out there before you go and make a stupid statement like that!

What a moronic statement!

Sorry but you are not making sense. If you voted on something, then you had negotiations. How do you think an agreement was reached? How many times do you see MEC's just blindly putting out company proposals to a vote without a negotiation? My recollection from talking to friends at TSA was not only was there a negotiation but it even included ALPA National as an arbitrator. You guys had your chance and apparently listened to those who told you there is ALWAYS another offer after a no vote. Too bad that is not always true. I think you really need to question your leaders because it looks like you guys keep getting bad advice.

Negotiations did take place. However, it was not quite the way you have described. The company (note: this is the same verbiage used in our CBA) agreed to negotiate with national (would not talk to our MEC) but only after they signed a non-disclosure agreement. Negotiations went nowhere for months until ALPA made the company an offer. We don't know what the offer was because they weren't allowed to tell us. The company refused to even make an answer to the offer and walked away from the "negotiations."
We conducted informational picketing and the company came to us immediately with an offer. They would not negotiate on the terms of it but insisted that it be put to the pilot group for a vote. They said this was a last, best offer and we would be out of luck if we refused it. (question: can this really be described as negotiation?) The proposal was extremely vague on things like furlough protection for GJ pilots and other things. It also included a 4 year contract extension. Under severe pressure from ALPA national (note: the preceding sentence is only my opinion), it was put to a vote. Before the vote, the company approached our MEC chairman and offered to make it 3 years but only if he approved it without a vote. The reason given (that he had to sign it himself) was that they didn't think the pilots would approve a 3 year extension!!!!!!
Anyway, the vote happened and the result has been discussed here at some length. It is worth pointing out that we were never promised that there would be another offer if this was voted down. All we were promised was that ALPA would make another offer to the company if it was voted down. There was no organized support for a no vote. Our MEC wasn't even allowed to take an official position (!!!!!!). There was extreme pressure from the company and from ALPA national for a yes vote. This pilot group voted no because the offer was unacceptable and we have had enough. We eagerly await the opportunity to negotiate a new contract in Aug 2006. fark Go Jet

What's with USAir ALPA saying "Go interview at G0jet"? ALPA has got to get it's head out of it's a$$ and take a stand on this one. ALPA is picketing at the same time it is saying "go interview"?

MEC CODE-A-PHONE UPDATE
November 1, 2005
This is Jack Stephan with a US Airways MEC update for Tuesday, November 1st, with four new items.
Item 1. The MEC convened its special meeting today and received a report from the US Airways
members of the Joint Negotiating Committee. This was followed by a report from ALPA International
President, Captain Duane Woerth, on industry retirement and insurance issues. The MEC spent the
remainder of the day in closed session receiving further reports on the status of joint negotiations and
equity distribution issues.
The special MEC meeting recessed at 5:45 p.m. and will reconvene at 90 a.m. tomorrow morning in
Conference rooms 14 and 15 at the ALPA Herndon office, 535 Herndon Parkway, Herndon VA.
Taxis
are the available transportation to the ALPA Herndon office. All US Airways pilots are encouraged to
attend the meeting, but please be advised that portions may be in closed session.
The meeting notice and agenda are posted on the pilots only home page under "What's New."

Item 2.
By mutual agreement between ALPA and US Airways management, MDA negotiations have
been deferred until after the arbitrator has issued his decision in the Wexford/Republic arbitration.
Recall that this decision is expected in mid-November. Once these talks have resumed, they will
continue until their completion.

Item 3.
The Flight Security Committee is reminding all pilots that they must take their bags off of the
airplane for inspection when going through customs. Recently, crews on a through-flight from the
Caribbean to CLT have been leaving their bags on the plane instead of taking their bags through
customs. Please remember that if you are required to clear customs, so do your bags. If you do not bring
your bags through customs with you, you could be fined 5,000 dollars. Please contact your Flight
Security committee with any questions or concerns. Their contact information is available on the Flight
Security Committee webpage on the pilots only website.
Item 4. Pace Airlines, headquartered in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, is planning to hire pilots soon
for various domiciles. They are seeking pilots with experience on the B-737 and B-757. Also, GJs, a
commuter airline headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, is planning to hire pilots. To learn more about
job requirements and how to apply, click on "Job Openings" under the MEC Fast Links on the pilots
only website.

Please remember we now have 1,574 pilots on furlough with approximately 400 pilots currently working
at MDA or Jets For Jobs carriers.

I hope they removed the link from their "job openings" section of the MEC Fast Links. Can anybody look it up and report back?

It has been changed and a new MEC phone message is out appologizing and reiterating the fact that Gayjets is NOT to be flown by UsAirways folks.

I think I'm going to stay in the Corporate/Charter side for just a couple more years!!!!!

Here's the retraction from the Code-a-phone:

Item 2. Yesterday's MEC Code-a-Phone included an item on available pilot positions at $0JETS It is necessary to inform you that $0JETS is an “alter ego” airline created by Trans States Airlines Holdings, which also operates Trans States Airlines (a US Airways affiliate and Jets for Jobs carrier). $0JETS was created to avoid union representation, with the intention of denying the ALPA pilots at Trans States the right to fly the 70-seat aircraft at $0JETS, and to dodge compliance with the terms and conditions of the collective bargaining agreement between the Trans States pilots and their management. The Trans States pilots are still battling their management to obtain the $0JETS flying under their ALPA CBA. In addition to establishing an alter ego carrier, Trans States management has also engaged in a disturbing and reprehensible pattern of contract noncompliance and led a personal campaign against union representatives, wrongfully terminating two pilots and a flight attendant.

We apologize to the Trans States pilots for any harm that was caused by erroneously announcing the availability of pilot jobs at $0JETS . We strongly support the Trans States pilots and understand the threat that $0JETS represents to their careers. All pilots should know that the US Airways MEC does not condone accepting employment at *****
