Also wondering....

I know they lost the TVF flying, and one can only wonder how much money you make flying around a 20 series Lear this last summer. When I was there I think we had 9 Falcons and 12 or so Lears.

Cheers!

I believe cherry air is down to 1 lear and 5 falcons and min crews (1 crew per plane) - hanging on by a thread

Grumpy VP is still there... Somehow...

I moved on but still have buddies there. Last I heard was 1 Lear and 3 or 4 flyable Falcons. 1 Lear crew and 3 Falcon crews is all that was left last time I checked.

With the way the economy is and how slow the auto business is, I can't see Cherry lasting much longer... I know the DO and CP are doing the best they can to ride out the storm, but they are facing a big hole to climb out of, and one stupid VP!!!

Best of luck guys!

True, Just heard the same thing the other day... Good luck fellas!

I hate so see anyone lose their job. Have they laid off anyone yet?

Cherry, like every other on demand, was a place to get experience. Alot of people did there time there and moved on to bigger and better things. The other day, while riding upfront on SWA, the pilots both said, "Oh ya, Scary Air, we have alot of people from there, all great pilots, with alot of stories."

Between check hauling going away and on-demand shrinking, I am starting to wonder where people can get experience at anymore. After all, the regionals arn't for everyone.

Crop dusting Way2Broke, it's going to be crop dusting!

Don't know why we would be looking for diamond captains. We only have FA20's
Actually, falcondriver is right. Assuming you're typed and if you'd have bothered to look at your certificate, you would see the type designation for the Falcon 20 is DA-20. FA20 is the ATC designator. DV20 is the diamond's ATC designator.

Cool I'm right , that usually never happens and I'm also have no idea what you guys are talking about.

I am suppose to have a certificate to do this? Nobody told me. Where can I obtain such a thing?

;)

I was at cherry when ATC told us to switch to FA20. Sometime around 2000 I think. Told me that they were having Katana's doing 450kts and Falcon 20's doin 100kts. Hope all turns out well for the boys still at Cherry.

Sorry dhawk. Guess I didn't realize it was tongue-in-cheek. Woke up on the wrong side of the floor yesterday when I typed that. Plus I get real defensive when anyone messes with my man falcondriver. Kumbaya everyone?

So is everything parked? Or are they still flying? Someday I'll have to put up some pics of the good times!

no problem bud i just catch crap from anyone watching on flight aware when the fss guy miss files me.

We have not parked any planes but i don't think anyone knows what this year will bring. Maybe Obama will save us all lol.

I saw on another board that cherry filed Chap 11. Does anyone know if this is true? If it is that's a bummer. Quite a few good guys over there. Good luck to you all.

I think the bottom line with the on-demand industry right now is that there is too much lift for the limited amount of product that needs to be flown. Of course this is blatantly obvious, but it will be absolutely amazing if there are not a few companies that do not end up liquidating. I hope for all of us, that somehow everyone makes it through this. On-demand seems to have a odd way of being feast or famine.

Oddly, it would help the rest of the other carries out if someone would shut their doors, but the affects that has on the crews at that company is far to great to wish that too happen to anyone. Although, alot of companies are looking over the edge of the canyon, wondering how long it is going to be before they have to jump.

i heard they have till sometime in March , to convince the judge they can make it. If not he will liquidate the company.

I heard 6 months... Who did you hear March from? PM me if you want.

Sorry can't say who. Its inside info. But it is all rumors. I hope you guys weather the storm and stay employed. I worked at Cherry for many years and it always amazed me that they never closed.
FD

I know all 6 pilots that still work there, and trained most of them, and talk to everyone else still and I just hadn't heard that one... I don't work there anymore though.

When did you work there? I was there July 04-Sept 08

Falcondriver is one of the very few stellar pilots and individuals I had the pleasure of flying with during my stint at Cherry '99-'03 and in aviation in general. And I can count those individuals on the fingers of my hands.
