While you guys are flying on airlines possibly exposing others to this virus, we are flying on our aircraft to keep our brothers and owners safe.

Project Lift is a GREAT marketing tool and I'm proud of the innovative thinking put into it but let's not kid ourselves that it necessarily makes us "safer".

Airlines are doing social distancing right now maintaining seat assignments that keep planes 1/3 full and passengers well separated. No beverage service and air circulated through hepa at full blast and cabins ozonated before every boarding.

Right now we should be banding together as colleagues, doing our best to maintain frac as a viable business model. We can get back to the chest thumping when we all survive this ride, ok?

Very good points. Honestly, since the brown stuff hit the fan with this virus, all my airline flights have had no more than 5 or 6 people on them, be it RJ or 737. Scary for the airlines, but with no one within at least 6 rows of me I'm not particularly worried.

On the other hand, are you really safer being ferried in a Phenom or some other similar aircraft with 1-7 other people sitting in close proximity to you (how far apart can you get on a small to mid-size private jet?)?

We have some at Netjets who'd definitely prefer being ferried to work on a company jet (although I'm not sure how excited too many would be about it with adding in a long drive before and after to a hub) but I think more are okay with being on an empty airline.

And those who are really bothered by potential exposure now have the option to stay at home continuously with the new LOA program.

I think if I were in that situation, I'd rather be stuck with up to 6 other people on a Phenom who I would suspect are clean individuals that I know versus strangers on an airline.

And why would you suspect they're "clean"? Because they're going to work? I see zero logic in what you're saying. If this were the flu, or a regular cold, sure. Because with those illnesses you aren't contagious until you have symptoms. Also, the incubation period is shorter, so if they were sick, it'd likely manifest itself on their time off and they'd know not to go to work.

But with COVID-19? Not the same at all. The "clean" crew members you're sitting right next to on the Phenom could easily be asymptomatic carriers, just waiting for the opportunity to pass it to you where you might be the one to suffer mightily (or die) or pass it to someone close to you who would suffer.

I'm not sure there's any way to be 100% safe from this illness except to stay home. If we're going to go to work, we're accepting increased risk. But social distancing is the still highly recommended for people who have to be out, and sitting crammed into a small private jet would seem to go against that recommendation more than being on an airliner with no one sitting in your immediate vicinity.

Don't you worry, DAC (Kenn Ricci) will buy the pieces and you can all go work for him! Just a heads-up: the pin striped pants are super small in the crotch (cause Flexjet pilots have no balls?), and the spandex Nazi shirts absorb water like a sponge so when it's raining they get lots of lovely dark spots until it dries out. Yes yes!! EVERYONE knows what's going on! No point in trying to keep it a secret anymore! We're gone man! GONE! We're not holding hands and singing songs, we're trying to huddle together for warmth in the midst of the total wreck that is (soon to be 'was') Netjets!

Oh, if only we'd had you to warn us earlier! Anonymous posters on FI always have the BEST info! Especially the folks that don't actually work here. The old "I heard it from a friend who heard it from a steward who posted in APC" communication network can't be beat!

Truth time: we really and truly have furloughed 1000 pilots. Gone! The majority of the fleet is parked and being sold off. Gone! Senior management are jumping ship faster than rats from a burning barn. Gone! 401K matching and all other benefits canceled. Gone!

The only thing more amazing than this is that not a single aviation publication has reported on any of this. It's quite a compliment to the "APC to steward to friend to ImBack" network that all this was discovered so handily. I know what news network I'll be tuning into from now on!
