Sad, sad day. I will never ship on DHL again. (probably won't even be an option in a year or two anyways)

Heard today that Boeing corporate has told the employees not to use DHL anymore, I'm sure the first of many.

Yeah these are the same rocket scientist that think getting an extra 4.5 hr on a trip is going to save their toys. There job is gone and they are trying to bank a few dollars to make the payment on the jet ski last longer. I have accepted my fate the house will go up as soon as I fix a few paint marks and drywall holes. I plan on downsizing to my future estimated income of about 1/2 of what I make now.

Our best chance of any success is to join together with Astar, the Daz, Joe and APA and give Dhl an ultimatum. If they want one airline spell out how to give them one, if they need cost cutting figure it out. I do not see how UPS is going to do the same job cheaper than we do it now, 1.75% is pretty damn cheap. I bet even Astar is willing to give a little wiggle room to make it happen. If Dhl says no, then why wait 12-18 months to die on the vine.

Has no analyst said this is a stupid move, giving your biggest competitor who has more money, more management skill and more success the ability to kill you.........

Hmmmmm, for quite some time now all we have heard from DPWN is that a pull out from the US is unacceptable since the US is responsible for a great share of their international business. How vital the US is to keep dhl a viable competitor in the market place. Since they put all of our livelihoods on the table and said they are now committed to phase it out over the next 12-18 months, just how many of those customers would be around in 12-18 months if it all stopped now. No contract, no DOJ review to approve their plan, no planes or trucks moving one single box. Their ENTIRE global empire could just possibly come crumbling down well before that 12-18 month time frame.

Maybe they should put in writing a VERY VERY generous offer for each and every employee to do what they do to their fullest to get them the time to implement their plan.

I can see how your plan has real teeth, and they are sharp too.

I have sat here most of the day in disbelief wondering if they actually think they are going to have any kind of system inegrity over the next 12-18 months. Do they really expect people to show up and do a bang up job for them while their jobs are slowly being given away?

I'm sure there are those that will suck up the open flying until they shut the lights out here.

I don't know about UPS carrying it, but having worked with USPS before ABX I know they will not deliver it.

I am very sorry to hear about this situation. I would hope that all abx and astar pilots could arange some kind of preferential hiring to ups. Does anyone know how many total pilots will be affected by this decision? Will the other companies under the abx holding company be losing jobs too? I was about to go into and interview with ATI in a couple of weeks and everyone I have met there seems like such good people. I wish the best to all of you.

While your worried about how the hazmat is gonna get transported, preferential interviews with UPS (ask CAT, EMERY and Challenge about that), and how the freight is gonna be dropping off, Hete, Das, and the germans are getting a plan on how to manipulate the labor to keep working. I guarrentee they will.

Ive had the doors close on me twice in my aviation career. Both times we had promises and guarantees. Then one day you call and you learn you have no job. Great satisfaction, I got knowing I helped them with a smooth transition and Im on the street.

How many of those 76's have cargo doors ? They will have to be converted inorder to be used in the acmi world. Whos gonna pay and where is the money gonna come from. The stock is in the toilet. No one is gonna invest money. Unless they come up with contracts and a guaranteed income.

You "professional aviators" are going to be proud of yourselves flying night after night working your butts off so they can make a good transition. Just wait until they start selling the 76s to UPS. Gonna be a fire sale to UPS so the stock can get some integrity back so the management can sell it and make more money.

I hate to see anyone lose their jobs. I cant stand it !! But your destiny has been written. But you can control its ending. You can write how the last chapter ends.

Shut the place down and celebrate as hete, das and the germans scratch their heads and worry. Why should you lose sleep while they sleep soundly at night ?
