If the east hadn't ginned up USAPA and extorted money from the west and squandered dues money on dead-end vindictive lawsuits against individual members, it would have just been a dispute. Hey Grumpy, since you use the magic word (up there in bold), why don't you tell us about the Cactus Pilot badges that indicated the monetary amount contributed to a certain law firm and pilots not displaying that Cactus Pilot badge were put on "no-fly" lists by their fellow West pilots (no access to open time etc.). I may be wrong on the exact date, however your date of July 2006 is also incorrect. The July 2006 date was a re-confirmation of a previous order. If you take a look at the AWA / US Transition Agreement, dated September 20, 2005, you will see 20 A350's on the US Side of the ledger with delivery dates (TBD), to be determined. These aircraft were on the order books prior to the AWA / US merger.

The third listers are just as culpable for failing to do what they could. No BPR recalls = tacit approval. Reconciliation of east and west depends on removing those in office who ginned up USAPA and who have benefited from the disunity.
