What's your pay at eagle vs going back to US?

If you go back at 4 year FO pay plus the 1500 for every year, couple that with the attrition East will have, you might be looking at something worthwhile.

I personally think you should come back.

The 1500 for every year is only for guys hired PRIOR to '98 (none of the 99 hires are included in that) So basically back at 3rd or 4th yr pay. 61 / 73/hr.....

Um, I'd rather not say:( . Just about double when I'd hit my 4th year next summer.

Like I said, money is seemingly the ONLY valid reason to make the switch, and it's very enticing.

I don't think a commute from DFW to CLT (or PHX eventually) would be that bad. If you simply had to commute for family reasons, DFW is in the middle of the country and is about 2-3 hours from anywhere. If you lived in LA and had to commute to PHL, that might really suk.

Will there ever be a furlough like we both (US and DL) had after 9-11? I hope not. It could happen though, but I would think the odds are against it. If you have some seniority and can get in there and have 500 behind you eventually, that could probably be a good cushion, barring another 9-11. Again, it is up to you.

Bye Bye--General Lee

Understood. In fact, part of the reason we set up shop back in DFW a couple of years ago was because it offers a good commute to just about anywhere in the country. Of course, "good commute" is an oxymoron.

500 a good cushion at LCC?

LOL

Obviously the pay issue makes it very difficult here but I'm having trouble finding ANY other reason to return to U (besides maybe a little SJS for the 757).

Thanks for the input, really. I need all the help I can get!

First, don't work there, but do have quite a few friends that do, some been there a while and some recent recalled furloughees. Regarding the "SJS for the 757" word from them, with the current fleet plan (and the Bus order), they are going to keep only about 20 of the 757s, the rest are going away in the next few years. Not sure what they are planning for the 767s, but they are getting up there in years, so probably will be replaced with new Airbi (or is Airbuses).

I think they said that 'days off' on reserve is 11 days a month; and if you are on 'long call' reserve, you can still be transitioned to 'short call' on I guess 10-12hrs (not sure of the time frame), if they need additional 'short call' reserve coverage. They also say that only 4 of the days off are 'immovable' the others can be made into 'work days' and replaced elsewhere on your line. I have seen some of their 'reserve lines' and most only have one block of 4-5 days off in a row, the rest are 2-3 day blocks in the line. Seems like it would be tough at times, if you did not live in base.

Just some of the info that I have heard, not sure if it helps. Just trying to pass on what I have heard, for what's its worth.

DA

P.S. Not sure why people are changing their minds after accepting recall, but I have heard the same thing as others have said here; recent classes have had like 40-60% 'no-shows' or drop-outs. Again, just try to pass on what I have heard. Tough decision, especially when you are not sure what the 'QOL' may turn out to be, Good Luck.

Money is a BIG reason to return. We do this for money. Doubling your salary is HUGE. Think of your family's QOL when you don't sweat the bills any more.

Commuting does suck, but when things settle down and you decide on a base, move there and forget about it. Don't move out of it. The move will be tough at first, but everyone will survive; embrace it, this too shall pass.

If you're gonna get stuck somewhere, getting stuck at the majors is waaayyyy better than the minors.

Good luck with this.
