Us Airways contract opener

[Contract]

The way we work now we are away from home 80 hours per week solid to make the minimum sallary proposed by management. If you had a 9 to 5 job and you worked an additional 20 hours per week you would be paid time and a half if you were an hourly employee. Most pilots would not fall into the hourly employee wage group as we would be considered sallaried employees for our educational experience and backgrounds. Talk with your neighbors and they will affirm the notion that the white collar worker in America today is making what you make or more and their home every night with their children, or just about. Meanwhile, our writing skills diminish....Oh well......We are Pilots and no one else can provide the service we do not even the Man in Charge of the Company. Stand Tall Men and Ladies.

Points taken. If all of us NO voters keep up.....MAYBE...just MAYBE we can force a higher wage until the YES voters overtake us by a whopping 52% (a one percent increase from TA 2.5.....thanks Capt. Stadler....we couldn't have done it without you!).

These openers are a total disgrace. My union has put out a notice that we should join AWA/Usair on the picket line next week to show our solidarity. I was going to, but not now. This is humiliating...for the entire profession. As an ALPA Pilot going into negotiations of my own, trying to recover from the Carnage of the last 5 years and the reign of Duane Woerth, I cannot in good conscience support anybody as US Air. If you guys are dumb enough to aim this low, you deserve what you get. The sad part is every other managment team in America is watching and your negotiating team is drowning the rest of us. I guess when you've been beaten for so long, self respect and dignity is a long ago memory. This is the largest case of stockholm syndrom in history. Congratulations US Air negotiating team. Way to represent.

If we cannot come together as a union then we will fall as divided individual pilots. Blame whom ever you want about the low pay rate we suffer now. But the reality is this: You don't want to help your union brothers then you will surely suffer in the long run. This time it was the "LCC's" that brought the pay down. Legacy airlines could not compete and had to destroy our contracts just to stay afloat. What will it be next? I believe we can come together as a national union and fight for each other and thereby raise the bar collectively....

It won't, Dude, and that's my point. But I'll bet you a beer some of the more vocal ALPA critics at C62 resurrect AWAPA from the ashes thinking they can do the job better for less cost to the pilot group. And they will take the most critical time during the negotiating process to get the ball rolling just like they did during C2004 negotiations. What's that saying that the Al Capp comic strip character Pogo is famous for? Something like "We have met the enemy and he is us" Should be this pilot group's epithet.... Oh and regarding your "wishful thinking" statement; just so you know, should a decertification drive come to pass, I will vote down in house representation just as I did last time. (Something about knowing the devil you got vs. the devil you are going to get, I guess) See you on the 16th?

Since Group 3 guys at AWA will be making $27 more an hour and US will be at $45 more an hour, perhaps taking it and signing a contract no longer than 18 months. After profits are accumulated you can ask for SWA wages. Just a though. Eitherway, I'll be lucky to see Group 3 2nd year pay this year flying the same A/C SWA and AWA are flying even after 17 years with my company. Eitherway, good luck guys!!
