Even if they've *already* been offered before. When a new vacancy opens and there's still furloughees on either side, they still have to start from the top of the list and send out recall letters again before off the street hiring can begin.

I understand. Was just pointing out that off the street hiring has already occurred. I've been told that a west pilot can defer recall indefinitely for the E190 but once they are offered recall on a group 2, that's a one time offer.

It depends. On one side you have a superior contract in every respect. On the east side you have a Mesa Minus contract.

One side you get very quick movement up the seniority list based on age alone. On the other side you can live in the desert and have a bunch of youngins in front of you.

One thing still confuses me, though. My understanding is that West guys taking East positions are placed at the bottom of the East seniority list. That being the case, how can they be offered group 2 aircraft? Seems to me that there would be enough E190 f/o's who could want to bid into those group 2 spots.

I think it all depends on if they decide to enforce the 12 month seat lock or not. They have been letting guys out of the seat lock but who knows if they are going to do that this time. You are right they do put all west guys on the bottom of the east list. I don't know what is going to happen, but the letter said you could pick either group2 or 190.

There is a lot of movement on this bid so it is hard to tell where everyone will go. There are 40 new captain positions as well as recalls and new hires. The last bid there were quite a few group 2 vacancies and all the senior fo's on the 190 stayed so it pretty much went to the bottom of the list. My hunch is that any of the senior 190 guys who want group 2 will get it first (based on the last bid, not many will leave) then any recalls will fill group 2 and if positions are left to be filled it will go down the 190 list until all the group 2 vacancies are filled. Then the remaining positions would be backfiled with new hires to the 190 to replace those moving up.

If a west pilot declined the 1st east offer (E190) and then accepts this offer (737/A320), they will be sr. to any pilots hired since the initial offer but Jr. to all original east pilots and jr. to all 3rd listers.

So a west pilot coming east in this offer could get a 737/a320 even though a 3rd lister (who is sr. to them for now) is still stuck on the E190 because of the seat lock.

Weird things happen when you have several different seniority proposals... and the company ignores all of them at their leisure

Call me crazy for asking this, but I hope US East did the math on their gamble. Kicking ALPA out and not going with the Nicolai award for 3+ years now, with USAPA, as compared to accepting it 3 years ago and getting the joined contract.

Just how much money are we talkin that was lost, at the expense of trying to defeat the Nicolau award? And in the end, so far, is it really worth it? I'm a regional guy, I got no beef with any AWA Westies or US Air Easties, but I am truly curious to hear from the East.

Close . The initial recall offered to the west furloughed pilots a few months ago were for E190 positions that were open at the time. 8 furloughed west pilots accepted,the rest bypassed. Once they exhausted both lists; east and west ,they started hiring off the street for the remaining E190 east positions that remained unfilled.

The more recent recall offer are for postions the east guys refer to as Group 2 aircraft. I believe those positions include assignment to the A320 and B737. My understanding is these recalls have been offered to west pilots as well as east . I'm not aware of any west pilots who accepted this latest recall offer to the larger aircraft at this time and I've been told, but am not certain that the east furloughed list has been exhausted and all remaining east furloughess have either accepted recall or have resigned .
